It was actually almost a replica of the Thuram-Augusto chance against Fiorentina. In both cases the player making the pass played the ball slightly behind the runner, which meant that the covering defender (Faraoni-Bremer) had the ball in their path while the runner had to stop their run to receive the pass.

Generally, Thuram lacks a bit of a killer instinct, understandably as he was originally a winger. The cross was not perfect, but Thuram should have tried to cut into Bremer's path in anticipation for the cross. Instead he kept running straight and allowed Bremer to dive in.

French strikers might have special abilities, like how Benzema can turn goalkeepers into retards and make errors, Henry can force Gerrard to killer pass his own defense to him, Giroud blocks his teammates shot or header them like they are crosses, Thuram is forcing own goals and drawing fouls.

Thuram now has the influence of a #9, he forces mistakes out of defenders because he makes great runs and makes his presence in the area count. His football IQ is way higher than Lukaku just because of that. You're a striker, go towards the ball, be hungry for the goal, don't stay at the penalty spot waiting for the ball to come at your feet. Even the 2-2 came from a great movement from Thuram.

Crazy to think that we got him for free. Crazy.
