I think our management knows the financial limitations of the club. :D

Lautaro's salary is 6.2m net at the moment, he's not even the highest paid player in the squad.

I don't know why I should be looking at Milan. Leicester-Scudetto winning side which is nowhere near us. Look at where their policies got them? 7p behind the table (1 more match played) and out of CL to EL. And let's not forget the pathetic Scudetto defence last season (only topped by Napoli's defence this season).
You right, he is getting 6.2m right now but offering 8m is so fair for him imo considering: 1-his performance 2-our limitation 3- our financial situation.
I'm not comparing our club only to Milan, my point is every club has a limitation policy like Real Madrid, as you know, they didn't break their limitation for Ronaldo so they sold him.
Altough I don't agree about some things about Milan like they don't have any debt anymore and the club is profitable (unlike us). Yes obviously they've been weaker than us for almost last decade, however, they could win one scudetto (the same as us) and they are progressing in every aspect which we can't deny that or underestimate them.

We can play without any of our midfielders or defenders, but not without Lautaro. He has every right to demand the highest salary in the team.

I have no problem with us paying Lautaro like 10m net on his current form. He is 'that much' better than the peers who are paid comparable to him at the moment. It's not breaking any salary structure, its in recognition of the massive progression he's made in the last season. If we win the league and he has meaningful contributions to another decent CL campaign, he deserves it.

No. I think it's a pretty fair demand if we can get him on a longterm extension. He can easily get way more than that somewhere else.

We're also talking one of the very best players in the game and our captain here.
Unfortunately, we are not in financial position to do that.
Lautaro is in his best season and he is still 26 years old. Now is the perfect moment to sell him, if he doesn't lower his demands. We can easily get 120 mln for him, even up to 150mln if PSG or some EPL rich club is ready to pounce him.

Sell Lauti for €150M if you want, just don't be surprised with how difficult it'll be to replace him. The "sell one player for a lot and reinvest in several players" strategy is far easier in theory than practice.

This is a fact but the alternative is not bright as well. If we give him 10mln, that will have a snowball effect and the rest of the starters will ask for big salaries too.
The best scenario is if he agrees lower wage and we manage to keep him for two seasons more and then to sell him for some reasonable money.
That assumption is if Suning are still here of course.

Some things to consider, even if unpleasant:

No guarantee Lautaro can replicate current season form next year.
We are in no condition to start handing out 10m salaries.
Much like with Skriniar/Perisic/Bastoni negotiations of the past, it's likely that Marotta is partly to blame for slow pace as every month that current player sees through on old wages is a win for the management.
If we were to sell a starting striker in the summer, it would be easier to integrate a random conventional forward with an awesome support striker that is Thuram, than to find another player who can feed Lautaro - or even worse - get another Dzeko/Lukako and have Lautaro be the second fiddle.

If money can be worked around, I'd love to keep this Lautaro but definitely not at any cost.

I don't wanna hear it, Inter is a club that paid to get Arnautovic with insane wages, a club that paid one year of loan of the fat belgian donkey and was ready to buy him back despite his age, his performances and his price.

Lautaro is the captain, the most decisive player in the team and one of the 3 Best strikers in the World. He is well adapted in our tactics, represents the club very well and fights for the badge. Give him 10M if he wants it because he is totally worth it.

It's more likely that 2 years from now he's called an ungrateful mercenary

This exactly. It's always one way street for these people, players are supposed to bend over to club.

People don't even recognize the merit of a player and don't feel the need to treat them fairly, Lautaro has been here since summer 2018, has been consistently getting better at the point of being the best in the league and one of the best in the world and on top of that he shows great responsibility and how much our colors mean to him.

Are we going to deny him the wages we all know he deserves while we were about to give them to a player that shat in our hands 2 times in his 3 seasons at the club?

That would be unforgiveable. Lautaro's renewal with adequate wages should be automatic.

If even the account guy says pay him, you pay him, no questions ask

I can see the skrinishit resemblance, but what are you talking about the picture above it? 😅😅😅😅 Unless they share some mannerism, he looks nothing like Lautaro
