Veron, 41, had promised to play in the 2017 Copa Libertadores if supporters bought 65 percent of the tickets for the club's new stadium and has now made good on that pledge.

He has signed an 18-month contract, meaning he will be aged 43 when the deal expires. He will be paid a minimal salary, all of which will be "donated for the development of the club."

His first game back in Estudiantes colours is set to be against Bayer Leverkusen in the Florida Cup on Jan. 8 after he spent the last few months working on his fitness.

I hope this will inspire Zanetti to do the same.

I'm pretty sure that Zanetti today can still walk into Inter's current starting line-up.

Zanetti could easily push D'Ambro away from the starting line up, EASILY.

I need to know why he’s not playing in our current team. For anyone watching the legends match he’s legit miles ahead of any of our midfielders I kid you not

He could have easily played another few seasons for us in that diamond midfield of Mancini.

Gone from the club way too early.

That first goal is a combination not even the current Inter team could pull of in training.

He probably wanted to return to Argentina.

He went back to his original club and won 2 leagues and a Libertadores. He 100% made the right decision.

Nobody wanted him back though at the time, you can check the poll.

Because everyone supported Adriano, when Veron had some issues with Adriano's disciplinary/professionalism issues due to his post traumatic disorder.

Personally, I have always like Veron. Might not have been perfect for a flat 442, but definitely more useful in other setups.

Indeed, I still remember that clear as day.

Was the only one who would rather have Adriano gone than Veron.

Yah i mean everyone was killing Veron but he was used terribly by Mancini and he played with some terrible players, in hindsight both Figo and Veron wanted Adriano to succeed, too bad he wasn't able to see it then.

Yeah, on the other hand, I can understand what Adriano was going through but these things are really difficult for outsiders to help.

At the end of the day, Adriano needed to get out of it himself, and clearly he never managed to.

But that was kind of off topic. After the departure of Veron, we never looked the same with our midfield, there was no midfield general dictating the tempo and the directionality of play whilst in possession.

There was Figo, but he didn't do the same job even after being moved to trequartista. There was also Pizarro, but we didn't even play him as a regista, we played him as a trequartista/cm in a flat midfield, lots of regret over there as well.

I also never considered Stankovic nor Cambiasso being the same style of players, so that's that.

But the creativity decline / the ability with playing with the ball has gone downhill from that point IMO, or even slightly earlier WHEN Veron was here but Mancini somehow decided he was a right wing rather than a central player.
