Things turned out was that we made the CL and Perisic scored 11 goals in that season. It was the right call not to sell him. In hindsight it would have been good to sell Perisic last summer after brilliant World Cup. But I don't know if there were even real interest.
Nobody expected Perisic to crater completely this season, though. It wasn't a reasonable expectation. Selling him over the summer would've, as we knew it then, downgraded our squad at a time when retaining quality to make another top-4 run (as well as give ourselves any kind of chance at having a good CL run) was paramount. No one could've imagined Perisic would come back from an excellent World Cup and be complete and utter dogshit.
