Said it before, will say it again - should've sold him this summer. He either doesn't have it anymore or doesn't care.

Yes. I really don't believe that someone will offer more than 20m for him.

We'll never sell him as long as Spalletti is here. How this guy continues to earn starts over Keita is inexcusable.

I'm willing to bet that he will start against Udinese, again. Like, a month without posting on FIF worth of bet.

Actually I want to say that this was one of his better games this season, and yes it was a big game.

I think he was far more visible because we were able to pick him out in space much closer to goal. We didn't really require him to bring the ball up the field from middle third or the start of opponent third.

Icardi sent him through in acres of space in numerous occasions and and he was able to send in some dangerous crosses into the box without any opponent directly facing him.

Likewise he also had a strong header that hit the post from a cross (can't remember who). It goes to show, when he gets proper delivery inside the box, he can still apply some form of threatening finishes.

So basically we just need to give him good delivery so that :
1. He doesn't need to dribble past anyone and he can just spam crosses into the box in an unmarked situation (his crosses are still more dangerous, i.e. Threat per cross, than say Politano or Candreva)
2. Accurate delivery to him inside the box so he can finish, a tap in or free header would be nice, anything without the requirement of complicated ball control and dribbling before shooting. I think currently his finishing skill is still up there compared to Candreva and Politano.

When we achieve both point 1 and point 2, basically treating him like a wide poacher with defensive contribution, then we will have a dangerous Perisic again.

Whats the point of him being a winger then? Imo, you cannot cut out the defensive part from his game.

Play him as LB since thats the only position available, and the only good thing left from him is his trackback.. Last year we have both Icardi and Perisic as our main goal scorer and now he didnt even show up on games like this. If we selling Icardi basically we have no one who have ability to score week in week out.

The point is he still serves good crosses into the box and has good finishing and header.

Sure he can still defend, but we just have to improve our delivery to him.

Understand his weakness, don't ask him to do things where he's no longer good at.

Have him play as LB with s view to move to LWB then give LM or LW to Keit as and deploy Asamoah in the lcm role alongside Brozovic

Explosive left wing attack...imagine Spalletti went with that set up..

Asamoah cm, I can already envisage the amount of careless possession loss when we try to build slowly from the back with Perisic making runs high up in the pitch and Keita obviously strolling around waiting for the ball to come.

I don't know about this LB thing, I guess I don't know until I see him there.

How many goals and assists he has provided this season? I think both stand at two and that is just plain awful. His crosses only matter if Icardi scores from them otherwise they are shit. We have basically moved into third position in Serie A and almost qualified in the CL minus him. Politano is way more productive than this guy imo right now. If we get an offer for him next month, cash in on him. We have dragged on without him to 3rd spot, I'm sure we can stay here without him as well.

Well that is actually not true, scoring from crosses depend on both crosser and the guy who receives it at the end.

I'm not even a Perisic supporter, but here we go.

Just because the receiver has managed the ball badly on the receiving end side, doesn't mean the cross itself is poor.

The same reasoning can be used to address Politano's lack of throughput with his crosses. Although through observation, he underhits his crosses so often that it doesn't even reach the target.

Basically we are talking about the wrong type of data, using it wrongly to support the wrong argument here. Basic assist numbers just don't show crossing throughput, it shows the crossing throughput in conjunction with the finishing throughput, but again this is receiver dependent.

The argument here is Perisic can still cross, but he is unable to move the ball up field, evading opponent to get to that cross. This problem also affects the assist number, which is why the number itself is irrelevant to the quality of his crosses.

Well again, it only matters if Perisic's good crosses make Icardi score. Thats what matters in the end. He has not done that this season.

Sigh, did you even read the argument?

I don't really wanna repeat it, let's just leave it there.

This guy is braindead, always beats his marker has the opening to cross or make a short pass, chooses to run some more until he is completely blocked and so his cross gets deflected or it comes out rubbish. What a fool, garbage finishing lately too.
