Ancelotti effect. It's not a coincidence he has only won one Scudetto in 10 years of coaching Juventus and Milan. He usually does much better in European tournaments than in the league.

I don't know if most of their support is in the south, but since historically all of the clubs from southern Italy have been complete garbage, people latched on to the most "successful" club in the country.

He was never league 1 defender, he was always good/very good defender. Problem was his passing and ability on the ball. As a pure defender he was always good.

We shouldn't have offloaded him but we had too many CBs and Smalling was one of the CB who at least got offers. Anything less than 20 million, the guy who sanctions the deal should just quit his role.
