I became interested in Italian club football because of the squadra...so yes me loves me Italy! Not as much as before, but still....I sill remeber how I cried for 30 minutes after Italy lost EURO 2000 from France, after being 1-0. I am somehow happy that Scotland was beated but, I am kinda worried that Pirlo scored...you know what that means right?

I was a die-hard Germany fan since the memoris of their WC90 win was one of my earliest soccer memories.

However, since I became a hard core inter fan, I neglected Germany and supported Italy passionately in 98, 02 and 04 only to be disappointed with the team's play each tournament, not to mention the results.

Now I am back to being 1000% behind Deutschland, and Ve Vill Vin the Vorld Cup!

Indeed I am a fan. I even have merchandise and all. I share about 70% of the passion I have for Danish NT for Italia.

I have some opinions on them too:

I think people wo critize us for winning stuff with a so called 'bad' attitude on the pitch must accept the fact that Italians don't want champagne football. They want trophies. Hence it would be a crime to start playing like Real Madrid. I've heard a lot of arguments against Italia and so far every single one of them have been unjustified. I'm sad though that some Italians, and I emphasize the word some, try to go out and critize all the other teams if their country go out.

It's ok to do that mildly which is in many cases true. However it does happen that they cross the line.

The accusations of Denmark and Sweden of all countries to have cheated in EC 2004 was the all time high of this behavior. As me and Jimbo tiredly tried to explain you it is utopia to think so. Be nice when you go out, please. All other nations are nice to them so they should repay that!

I think we will win World Cup 2006. And if not at least reach the final. Lippi will bring us glory and frankly I'm not bothered too much by the fact that he is a Juventino. I somehow even believe he had no part in the doping scandals. I'd rather have such a fantastic coach as him than a bad one I have absolutely nothing against on a personal level.

About the team, I think Lippi has already done very well. He has called up some coming stars for Italia and had the guts to replace bad performing mega stars. Even including his own Del Piero who must be like a son to him. I've been of the opinion for a long time that I simply do not understand why Alessando Del Diero hasn't retired long ago. He is not good enough to be a starter in Juventus and we can certainly do much better than him on a national level.

It doesn't help my beloved Italia's image either that he has doped himself. That in itself SHOULD mean he can't play for Italy regardless of how good you think he is.

I'm expecting great things from the revived Cannavaro in Germany. Now that we've qualified already we can start discussing that too even if it's far away in the future. It will be crucial for us that Cannavaro will play like he is doing for Juventus right now.

If he does that, my God, we will be strong! :lala:

Of course one man alone can't take us to glory but he's the captain and needs to go first. The transformation Lippi seems to be doing right now appears nothing short of genious. Let's hope he sticks with his policy of benching non performing players in favor of people willing to fight like Toni over Del Piero for example.

I am very confident of glory coming soon. ;)

That´s true. We weren´t very creative yesterday. Hopefully it will all go better when we give Lippi some more time.

I was happy and sad at the same time when i saw Pirlo´s two freekick goals. Everytime he plays great (almost every match!) i get kinda pissed ´cause we gave him away. Psshhhhh!!!!!

We have to let Pirlo go. That was a suicide transfer on our part but it's in the past. Lay it behind. :)

As stupid Eurosport decided to show France instead I didn't see the match and I'd like a match summarum if someone feels up to it, please. :)

i dont know we had alot of fantasic plays but no one to finish them off. Italia is the only national team out there for me. Lippi has to tell the three forwards to shoot more instead of trying to do the unbelievable. so many wasted chances yesterday all someone needed to do was shoot instead of looking for that extra pass and italia could have easily taken in a more decisive manner. Last night it was scottland i think if we play like yesterday italia could have some trouble in the next three games. espically becuase they are all away games.

And another thing that made me like the Azzuri less has to do with inter. Inter are always screwed by the media and the whole italian system whether it's political or judicial, if we were in another country we would have won a lot more trophies than what we have.

Also, I just can't bare cheering for Buffon, Nesta, Gattusso and Inzaghi (although I doubt he'll be there) I had no problems cheering for Maldini, Del Piero and Totti, those guys were exciting and the first two are and were class.

My blacklist:

Cannavaro
Nesta
Gattuso
Pirlo
Zambrotta (even though I have no clue why)
Totti

That's my blacklist. I still enjoy their class for the team and hope to see Cannavaro take us to lift the World Cup in 2006. It is really great for us he has revived himself in Torino. I am certain we will reach the final. And I predict we will win it.

I have a strange distant support for Italia which I can't explain. It makes no sense to me whatsoever. ;)

Italy will not the world cup when you have character like cheat Zambrota, classless Totti and lady Cassano. When italy won the world cup and when they had great success, they had real men playing soccer. Most of these players care about their appearance and finance than the NT.

You don't have a Maldini, Baggio, Bergomi, Baresi or Rossi anymore.

You don't have italian to like their NT or any other NT, that's nonsense. If you like a country or its style of play, then you are a fan of them. Whether you are a national or not makes no difference.

I almost cried when DiBiaggio hit the goal post in WC98 and when TresGay scored that goal in Euro2000 and I'm not italian.

Helal which people are you refering with that statement?

Hamed you are right you have the choice of cheering for who you want but International competitions are all about showing your pride for your country. Its just not the same if you cheer for a country that you have no national tie to.
