Really? Our latest results say we are possibly in the best form we have ever been in years bro.
Our latest results have come against mediocre opposition to say the least. We took on Fiorentina early when they were still getting over the fact that they had a massive points penalty. Roma away is the same thing they were not in form and lost Mancini early on in the game. Milan are not milan this season and we still managed to struggle against them until the very end.
The only real opposition we have taken on this season was Bayern, who arent even that good this season, and we still phucking lost. Put it down to the circumstances but even before the dismisals we never really showed solid initiative that we were going to take on this team and beat them in our own house.
Sure our results are showing something but looking at the overall display I think you would be hard pressed to find something to indicate that we could successfully mount a challenge against an in form team of high calibre. It takes time to adapt to these situations. Team like ManU, Barca, Milan and Chelsea as a united squads have each had much more experience in these sorts of situations and it is this experience that puts them at a cut above. Sure some of our indivudual players might have had experience in these battles with some success but as a team Inter have not gone out there with the current core starting line up and battled together.
I think DaRealest said it best even though he prolly didnt mean it in the sense that I am taking it. Should Inter face Chelsea or Barca and come out on top it would be remembered for years to come. Take it the other way around Barca and Chelsea beating us would just mean that they are doing exactly what is expected of them. Believe it or not Inter are not on the same level as these clubs in Europe and are even second teir to Milan and Jube (pre demotion) on the European stage.
I do like however that the team is building character this season they are steadily improving. Managing to scrape out wins when in other season's it would have been a draw. Add to that the Inter are finally starting to have a defined playing style which always helps, unless like Milan it gets to be too predictable. Credit to the team that they have are starting from the grassroots and building on a solid foundation for a bright future. However, the real test will come this weekend against Palermo, this will not be a top calibre opponent but being able to beat them will show consistency. When we have that we can aspire to greater things like beating Bayern and eventually the Barca's and Chelsea's of European football. It is just as of now that I think we have not yet achieved this consistency to take that step to the next stage.
Hal, will you never learn you can never win against a pessimist like me. I will almost always oppose you optimism mate. I really dont see what the hell you have to be optimistic about anyway, you living in Aussiland and all.
