Stankovic gave another great performance, know we know when stankovic play his best, when he has a free role with very few defensive duties that he does when he thinks its needed, that attack where he flicked the ball was incredible, and IBRAHIMOVIC also had a great game, altho he looked lazy at times, that pass to vieira was golden.

we are now through to the knock out stage.... and we still have a chance to take the first place in group B.

It's good that we finally played a good game in CL, and after Crespo's goal there was never any doubt about the outcome of the game, but we should have done better in front of goal.

Poor match from Inter, midfield didn't look good at all and Zlatan and Crespo didnt have much to work with. No matter, three points and Inter are through to last 16. :)

Huh that strange, I though we really took it to Sporting who I consider is a good team. Obviously we didnt score tons of goals, but we dominated the match with good defence and no lapses of concentration.

This game could have been 3-0 had we been a bit more lucky.

I am so happy that Inter is finally getting their shit together, by being more consistent and determined.

First of all, congratulations to Inter who proved me wrong about the CL campaign. Second, it was lovely to see a certain Cuchu out there again. We even saw one of his brilliant ball winning challenges. :star:

Thirdly, Zlatan's finish. My God, how many potential skill videos are there for capping? Fourth, hopefully Dacourt won't be out for long. At first, I thought he had a problem with his foot. Get well soon, Oli :star:

The first half wasn't very good IMO. The second wasn't either, but we did what was necessary and we prove yet again that we can win tight one-goal-winning matches. Oh, and great goal by Crespo with an equally exquisite pass from Dejan :star::star:

Maicon has one thing: he can't stop running all the 90 minutes, i rather see Javier in rB and a normal midfield, but if it's true Dacourt is out for a month, Maicon will have to play there and JZ,Cambiasso,Vieira.
Man of the match of today, i don't really know, Zanetti, Stankovic and Dacourt all 3, Crespo also for the goal, Maicon and the defence not bad at all. I expected more from Ibrahimovic, but i know he is going to take a personal revenge in the next game against Bayern Munchen.

Bollocks, this was Vieiras' best game in ages. Maybe creativity was down but we used flanks well.

I'am not sure that Inter completely dominated the match, let's leave it in "dominated" or "better team", i was very nervous during all the first half and the 4 last minutes of da game.

Defensively Inter played great, offensively I was a little disapointed but maybe I'm spoiled with Inter playing so great thus far in the season. I think they should of created a little more chances even though Sporting had eleven men on thier side of the pitch for better part of the match.

Agree. Defensively Viera was very good.

Finally something good happened in a match where Il Capitano had his umpteenth landmark; his 100th European match for Inter. :star::proud: Forza Zanetti!

For me, we played good, but not marvelously. We did what we have to do, scored the goal, got a clean sheet and achieved qualification. But a good portion of this victory is also due to Sporting's incompetence. Perhaps it was because our quartet of central midfield performing very well, but Sporting was very poor, just like Reggina in the second half was on Sunday.

It's nice to have a peace of mind right now that we have made a huge comeback to qualify for the knockout stage. Now, we have another big clash against Palermo in Renzo Barbera. Let's strive for another win, Inter. :star:

We should have won more comfortably but I quess we can't blame our boys for the linesman not being able to see clearly when Hernan scored that great goal in the first half.

My ratings:

J.Cesar 6: Nothing to do

Maicon 6,5
Materazzi 8: He had a brilliant game.
Cordoba 7: One of his better recent games.
Grosso 7: Good game.

JZ 7,5: Good game from the captain.
Dacourt 7,5: Covered the backline superbly.
Viera 6,5: He did ok.

Crespo 8,5: Took his chances.

Ibra 7: He did very well holding up the ball and set up crespo for our "first goal".

"Maicon? He's improving a lot, and being so young he can still improve a lot, especially in defence. He can harm opponents when attacking, and he defends positively." -Mancini

By the 70th or 75th minute I wanted Vieira and Ibra out with Figo and Adri in, Ibra was stationary, but then got lively by the 80th minute and Vieira was just becoming more of a liability.
But now with Burdisso introduced and Cambi returning, Mancio managed to make use of the two guys who were more of a liability and stationary and became more effective for the remainder of the game, nice changes by Mancio.
But the match today tactically wasn't that much, I thought INter would be more solid, and Vieira as a RM is not a good idea to put him on the right, but then he adapted by the end pretty well I think.

Another thing, did you hear the crowd when Cambiasso got in? Man that was LOUD!!!

I cant believe I missed this match. :moan:

I will dl it though as soon as possible.

I think our objective now should be topping the group. Munich are not having the best of times in the Bundesliga and there is no reason that we can not go into their arena and knock their socks off with some solid defensive work and quick counterattacks.

I think our European joy will be short lived if we do end up finishing 2nd as it would mean facing a big gun in the next round.
