All players should run and kiss Handanovic's ass after this one. Great performance from our keeper. Now if only he can put a string of these games together! Off topic. Why was JJM banned?

Everytime the opposition attacks our defence craps in their pants and the opposition looks like scoring.Roma,Bologna and now Soton.

Was this Soton's 1st team or were they resting players? If so how many starters were rested?

Even though this was not our best squad , there were enough starters out there on the pitch for our play to not have been so shoddy.Infact we played our best defensive players here barring Ansaldi.Handanovic,Santon,Murillo,Miranda and Medel are all starters and Ansaldi came in later on.There can be no excuses at the end of October for these kinds of defensive performances. There is simply no organisation at the back.De Boer has to bloody fix this or else we won't even make the EL next season.

Results first, performances later. Results bring stability, stability will bring performances. A win without j.mario, Banega and Perisic, thats a good night.

First half was ultrashit. Quite pleased with the second half performance before that stupid red card. Much better game from Brozovic and Gnoukouri gave us control in midfield.
First win in Europe after 4 consecutive losses.

Finally someone other than Provenzano with a match thread. That means a sure win for us.

He overtook me with a few seconds. :D I'm kidding.

I'll buy you a beer, if you're right (although I doubt). We don't have future with this coach. Players like Brozovic, Gabigol, Jovetic, even Kondogbia are reserves, but we play with Candreva, Eder, Medel etc.

:awyeah:

I've watched only the first half since I had to go and play a football game myself, but judging from the posts here it seems that the second half wasn't much better.

I'll look at the bright side take the following good things out of this game:

  • We won.
  • Candreva finally scored.
  • We, shockingly, surprisingly, didn't concede like every other game.
  • Santon continues his unexpected rise in humble development.
  • Brozovic back in action.
  • Handanovic being Handanovic.

Everything else was a stinking pile of shit.

I'm watching the game again right now (don't ask why), and I have one legit question: Hooooow, on earth, did we win this game?

This is literally like watching Barcelona vs Sporting Gijon. It's fucking Southampton man.

Lol you guys just don't learn. Ok results are more important than performences. It's not like we've been throwing our seasons one after one despite getting good results at first and playing shit football.

We beat fucking Juve, where did that took us? We are still miserable and no progession is made. Progression is more important than results right now, and you don't make progression by playing the kind of football we've played.

No I'm not happy, surely not conviced when watching games like this. It's the same as last season when Handa saved our asses, only that we are not getting as many results.

Beat Atalanta like this, great I'll be over the moon. It's not like everthing will fall apart like every season afterwards.

There is no progress.Basically our defense is as bad now as it was in January. How do we fix this?It seems to me De Boer will not be changing his formation to be more defensive either.

Im not so sure. He was definitely a lot more negative today than other games. I imagine he'll rethink his tactics as he knows now he wont get the time to implement his style of play and results matter more first.

Fucking called it!!! Hope I am wrong about the 2nd part and we start putting shit together. We are way better then the shit we have been putting out on the field the last couple weeks

Lol you called absolutely nothing
Your original post said we were gonna "rape" Southampton (which we absolutely didn't) and the main part of your prediction (where you say we will lose to 2 shit teams now) hasn't even happened

Although I do agree our squad should be delivering more.

Now that I've watched the second half, I'd say the players looked way more interested in the game and truly aggressive to hold for that 1-0 win. I'd like see this mentality when we lead the games instead of the regular daydreaming. Well done.

Btw, Southampton probably have less English players than we have Italians.

Sadly not...

Inter: D'Ambrosio, Santon, Candreva, Eder, Rano, Andreolli
Southampton: well, I could count at least 8 with playing time this year
