De boer pep talk did it.. told the players by january who wants to leave can leave.

This might spark the players to perform with greater passion.. only time will tell.

This win might be the start of better things ahead for us..

Shit game for us, despite the win. Come to think of it, I don't really know if we're taking EU league seriously...

Lots of contentious reports here about a few players tbh.

Firstly, I don't know how some of you seemed so upset with Miranda. Dude missed a header and had some small misteps but by and large, he demonstrated once again why he's such a class player.

As for Brozovic, I don't honestly care about his sending off. Yes, it was stupid, but what is far more important is the good he did. As far as I'm concerned, this match could have gone two ways for him - he could have put his head down and ground out a good performance, or he could have been petulant like he was against Be'er Sheva. While his first half was very ordinary (the whole team didn't start playing until the 35th minute) he got into his game around that 35 minute mark and everything ran through him until he got sent off. In my eyes, he had a real 'midfield general' performance where he was highly involved. The team clearly looked to him for direction, and so importantly, he demonstrated the skill and mentality to take on that responsibility and did a good job of it. I mean, who can do that in our team? No one really. Even with Mario and Banega playing, we've had ZERO presence down the middle of the pitch in recent games. Today I was satisfied with how Brozovic was able to make things work down all sides of the pitch. It was apparent to me that he really wanted to play well and show what he could do off the back of his recent issues, so I'm really satisfied with this performance.

I also thought Santon was pretty good. He's been one of the most consistent performers under de Boer. The way he's playing right now is the very definition of 'solid but unspectacular', and that's fine with me. 'Solid but unspectacular' is what the likes of Nagatomo were supposed to be, and instead ended up being spectacularly shit. Santon IMO is the first choice full back in our team by a long margin right now. No doubt he gets caught high up on the pitch some times, but that will always happen when you involve yourself in keeping possession while attacking. Otherwise, his defending seems better and he's impressively calm and articulate on the ball and in possession.

Good points here. I want to add something. It's normal that we got dominated by Southamton because our midfield was dreadful. Medel had all of his passes backward. I'm start hating this guy. He has zero contribution when team is attacking. He never runs in the free space to receive the ball and 90% of his passes are to the defenders. Gnoukuri's position as right midfielder up on the pitch is also questionable. I think he should play on Medel's position where it's not so crowded and he has more option to pass. Plus, he keep the ball better than Medel under pressure. The only other person in our midfield was Brozo, who had to handle everything by himself. He misplaced some of his passes in first half but then his got his shits together and improve his game. Almost all of our attacks was because of Brozo and Santon. The latter again left his zone unattended in some periods but his contribution in attacks is improving.
Icardi and Eder - both of them were invisible. Icardi as always wants to receive the ball behind the defense. This is huge disadvantage in his game. He must learn how to win the ball, keep it and the distributed it. He also was overplayed in air in all occasions. Eder was uselss as well. He run a lot but the final product was nothing.
In conclusion, i want to see midfield of Banega, Mario and Brozovic. Cnoukuri might be used instead of Medel as well. This can work good for us.

How Santon is very good is beyond me, he never wins a single contrast with an opposing winger, seriously what does he give to the team?

And about the topic about winning and not playing well, you can't play well every game and Juve do it, why not us?

Santon has been very good as he's simply been better than Danilo or Nagatomo. He's physically better, more composed, has better technique than them. After Darmian's arrival though, can't see him beat Ansaldi to a place in the side.

I'm under the impression that you are not watching the games this season, Miranda has made a lot of mistakes, and no matter how good he plays, a cb that is prone to fuck up is a liability

If a CB is exposed due to lack of balance in the team, then he's not the problem.

missing a long ball is not due to the lack of balance in team, neither does getting whopped by a stepover which leads to a goal(another game). Miranda has put in some freaking clusterfuck performances this season, he looks unstable, wobbly, doesnt even have the same self confidence as last year.

Agreed and I also think that Miranda made Murillo look very good last season but can't do that now.

None of our players have the same self confidence as the day they signed for this cursed club. That's a large part of our problem now.
