I would actually prefer we keep up the Juan LB experiment and let Vidic - Ranocchia continue their partnership. I also liked D'ambrosio last game. I would keep the back 4 the same as against Verona.

Besides the back line that's more or less to be expected. Mancini seems to think that Shaqiri, Hernanes and Kovacic are all trequartistas incapable of playing any other position and seems to rate them in that order. To be fair though, he said after the Verona match that he thinks Hernanes can play as a CM too (no shit) and what better time to walk the walk by playing Hernanes as a CM than after a great match by Hernanes and when 2 of our 'starting' CM's are suspended. The derby will show whether that comment was just lip service.

Speaking about the back line though, I don't like this Juan-as-LB nonsense. Not in the slightest. The fact that Juan is somewhat athletic and enthusiastic shouldn't mask the fact that he's still clearly incapable of playing there proficiently. Without taking current injuries into account, I'd far prefer any of D'Ambrosio, Santon, Dodo and Nagatomo at LB than Juan.

I don't like Juan at LB either, but it seems that Juan is a must started for Mancini. If that's the case, I don't want to see him as a centre back, so I feel the left back is the lesser of two evils.

The problem with Mancini is that he'll bench some players because he's unsatisfied (Kovacic), however certain players can have many bad games in a row (Juan, Guarin) but for some reason Mancini won't take that into account and will never bench them.

If Kovacic doesn't start the derby, I'll be at a loss for words.

Juan against fast players like Cerci and Menez? It will be fun Unfortunately Vidic and Rannochia are slow players as well, so maybe Mancini should pull deeper our line than usual. I prefer Santon and Dambrosio.
