Oh come on you cry-babies. Better to lose this game than lose against Juventus. I'm not saying that losing on sunday too can't happen, but at least now we can focus on what truly matters - CL spot and trying to learn from these mistakes and play better. We weren't bad tonight, just unlucky. We didn't deserve a penalty against us, let alone a red card, but shit happens.

No Gagliardini in the middle, no Icardi and Mario from the first minute, a little individual fuck up from time to time, and whoala.

Moving on now!!!

I do agree that it can be good to have less matches and focus on the CL, but it's obvious we wanted to win this game and went with almost our full team, so hopefully the fallout isn't too big from the loss.

If Roma wins, the good thing is that they'll have 2 very tough derby games. Not only that but within the space of 7 days they'll need to play against Villareal, us, and Lazio.

too bad for the loss, i was believing at the end.

overall they did not play bad, but lazio played very well. organized behind and quick in the counter with often 5-6 men rolling forward.

the major problems were palacio in front (he can't be the sole forward, especially when our main line of attack are crosses), banega in mid (completely outplayed by biglia) and ansaldi in the back (bad night for him, too often out of position/slow to come back, unfortunately, no real alternatives there)

kondo was quite good in the first half, but then fizzled out towards the end (probably tired).
brozo and perisic were the opposite. started bad (especially brozovic) and got better as the game went on. perisic was exceptional after miranda's red card. best overall player today, imo (kdog second)

the 'penalty' was a dive to me, but i don't blame the ref. miranda was way late in his challenge, and immobile was smart about it.
that said, they could easily have scored 2-3 anyway if not for handa and parolo's miss.

it's a pity because the cup was achievable and a trophy is a trophy. and it was clear that they really wanted it a the end.

it could be a blessing in disguise if it gives them more fight (and rest) in the league games, and it could work as a reality check for sunday, so they go in with the right attitude. still it will be very tough and a tie would be fine. I really fear how the defense can be exposed by juve's attack.

finally, they got to do something about FKs. not one can shoot them decently, and no schemes to be seen off them.

Rather have our complacency punished now, than in a few days in Turin. Hopefully this motivates the team to work harder.

Interesting I'm the only one to see Muri as MOTM,for holding the df without Miranda's drunk ass up to it...yes we did concede 2x times but...Muri had a very good game
Probably not MOTM but I give him credit for holding it together back there with the others swimming clueless af

Winning breeds confidence. This means winning games, and ideally cups. That's how dominant teams become dominant, because of the winning mentality.

Do you think a loss here won't affect the team's confidence going into Sunday? If so, think again.

Late to this and tangential, but dominant teams win games and are dominant because they are inherently good (in terms of players, coaches, tactics), not because they've won previous games. I think you have your causality backwards, especially when the empirics don't support what you're saying.

LOL at those who says better to lose yesterday than to juventus. Let me remind you all.. Losing vs Lazio =/= Winning vs Juventus. We didn't play a complete second tier team last night.

I agree about Murillo. Not MOTM for me but definitely another good game from him.
Murillo has improved a lot under Pioli. Maybe Samuel deserves credit for that. Or maybe the constant talk about Manolas has motivated him to play better.

the loss is loss , the main problem is we play against lazio with tired player , they can't play with the rest only 2 days.

especially candreva and perisic , candreva look tired , clueless , i hope gabigol playing but he didn't .

and when icardi and joao mario come , we become more more excellent.
and no way Palacio can score if De Vrij mark him.

if only miranda didn't sent off , i am sure we win, cause we can insert eder or gabigol in last minute..

when Eder come , our attack be more fluid , especially if he replace Candreva , trust me !!

Referee has some blame in this game because we had a clear penalty.

The result is a fair one, I think we were complacent and pressed way too high which hurt us against a team that's so quick on the counter. I'm not worried too much but a loss is a kick in the teeth and was really hoping to go to Rome for the final, oh well...

MOTM: Perisic, Kondogbia, Murillo

I'm amazed by Kondogbia's catharsis, he seems like a brand new man under Pioli, so this January we can congratulate ourselves with two new players - Kondogbia and Gagliardini. Not bad. Now he performs much more like a 30M player, although I want to see even better games from him in order to redeem him completely.

-

Worst players: Ansaldi, Banega and Miranda in that particular order. Pioli fucked up on this one as well.

Although the red was pretty harsh Miranda gave away a couple of presents, at least two to Lazio players.

I think Banega is just terribly slow in his decision making for the AM role. Is tempo in Spain much slower than in Serie A, cause he seems to lag behind slightly every time he receives the ball?

Perisic worked his ass off in defense, even when that fucker Ansaldi was there. I actually think we were better when Perisic covered both positions, running up and down. :palm:

And Ansaldi, oh my - the worst player we have on our roster at the moment. All in all a worthy heir to Ranocchia's crown as a walking disaster in defence.

We played without 3 players from minute 1, and without DMC

C3hsXBCXUAAweo4.jpg:large

Mistake from Pioli he must put, Santon over Ansaldi, Icardi over Palacio, Joao Mario over Banega and Medel over Kondogbia!

ANSLADI IS WB not FB - He is great vs. small teams, but vs. good teams - he is lost!

If Pioli loves Ansaldi he must change to Conte tactic (3-4-3) vs big teams!

Perisic Icardi Joao Mario
Ansaldi Brozovic Gagliardini Candreva
Medel Miranda Murillo

Penalty and red for Miranda?! I heard that rule is changed and only a penalty should be given.

Losing vs Lazio =/= Winning vs Juventus

Losing in a certain way could have potentially helped our chances vs. Rube.

But giving Perisic, Candreva, Dambrosio, & Brozovic 90 min each and playing the 2nd half with 10 men was definitely not that certain way.

Nevertheless, 5 days rest should be enough for a professional footballer. I give Pioli credit for going for it. CI could have been a nice consolation prize and a signal that Inter are heading in the right direction.

IIRC the rule was changed so that the ref has the opportunity to decide whether to give a card (be it yellow or red) with the penalty.

Players who commit a foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent off, football's rule-making body has confirmed.

The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award of a penalty under those circumstances.

However, players committing accidental fouls that deny a goalscoring chance will now be cautioned instead.

But deliberate fouls will still incur a red card.

Those include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity.

The issue is related more to our gameplan rather than Candreva. Candreva does take too long on the ball, sure, but the real culprit is there not being any sort of movement outside of the box. I noticed it yesterday couple of times where the fullback (both of them) would make runs towards the corner flag, effectively dragging a player or two with them and creating space at the edge of the box but none of our players were running into the open space. This happens all the time all around the pitch.

Our gameplan pretty much consists of getting the ball to our wingers and crossing it in. At least Kondogbia was trying some through balls at Banega/J. Mario yesterday in the center.

see, ive noticed the opposite numerous times ( in general ) there was open teammate at the edge of the box but nobody gave a fuck.. candreva will always cross no matter what ... same goes for dambro.. its a fact

half of those crosses shouldnt be fired at all IMO

again, if our game plan is to cross it, why not. i'd rather that than try to tiki taka it across, something we can't do. his crosses would be a lot better too if we got more bodies in the box from midfield. players like gags bursting into the box, as well as perisic and j.mario. he does keep it too long some times but that's usually when we only have Icardi in the box
