Grande Inter! No matter who we face at the final. We will WIN it! Maybe Udinese would be better? They've got at least UEFA Cup spot already, so will they have so much motivation to get the cup. We must have that motivation, we need to win something!

Grazie Vieri e Martins!

Mancini: "Vieri? He's doing well, but he can still improve."

Is this a complimentary or is he criticizing him a bit? My guess would be the latter. I remember reading exactly the same words [coming from Mancini´s mouth] about five times already. I dont think they´re as good friends as we might believe. Hmmm, maybe there´s something...

Am i way off?

Good result and an expected one, what with Cagliari's shoddy away record. Oba, Bobo and Karagounis seem to be our catalysts right now, much to the chagrin of Adriano and Stankovic I'm sure. ;) Veron also seems to be playing well, though I think it's unwise to rely so much on a soon-to-be 30 year old midfielder.

I can't believe Mancio played Materazzi at LB again though! I mean it's okay for a stop-gap solution but Matrix really shouldn't be playing there when there are options.

Roma or Udinese? I really don't have a preference as both teams have their strengths and weaknesses. Udine is without Janku and they're fighting for the last CL spot but have been a thorn in Inter's side over the years while Roma just plain suck this season but they do have Totti for this competition and anytime he has the ball at his feet he's a dangerous player.

Forza Ragazzi!

Moratti concluded with a few comments about the transfer market: "The team has worked very hard to find the harmony you can see on the pitch, so I don't think there's much to change. The team doesn't deserve to be hurt by too many changes. It deserves to continue like this with the men it has. But it's clear that you change a bit every year."

W00T, I hope he learned from his mistakes :)

What an exciting match! We played a great game, but still managed to make it difficult in the end. We totally controlled the pitch throughout the game, but Cagliari created difficulties from counter attacks. Matrix once again was a hazard as a leftback, but why on earth should we use a former NT leftback Coco? Obviously there has to be a reason...

Our defence was too shaky and once again we let in a goal from a set piece, which isn't that good, but still our overall play was excellent so there's no need to moan about poor defending.

Our midfield was good with Cambiasso doing a routine performance, but both Veron and Kara having a brilliant match. Veron pressed hard and actually played one of the best matches this season. Same goes for Karagounis who was unlucky too see his ever shot parried by Iezzo. We really need to keep Karagounis and let him play more. Kily was non-existent and I wouldn't mind selling him.

Last to our striker duo. What a remarkable performance by Bobo Vieri aka TRITOLONE. He was everywhere and always dangerous. THis is the Vieri what we have been asking for the last two seasons. He's back and I hope he's back for good and for good with us. It's not just his scoring and good shots and headers. He really made many brilliant passes and like Tommi said, he was like a playmaker occasionally. Super-Vieri. Definately MOM. Obaoba was also pretty good creating a lot of difficulties for Cagliari defence. It was good that he got his name on the scoresheet in the end.

I've said this earlier, but I have to say it again. Oba-Bobo is clearly our best striker partnership or at least they've done the best job together. Their understanding is extraordinary and since their characteristics are totally different they really gel well together.

I'm very excited about Kara's performance. He absolutly deserves a starting 11 place......... instead of Stankovic.

Great Inter.

I came online when the game was already over, I've been reading through this thread and it's great to hear so many good news.

I watched the goals, Karagounis' pass to Oba was A M A Z I N G, and our little Nigerian is showing how he's grown, he's providing assists, and with good accuracy. Bobo looks amazing, this is perfect right now, both Bobo and Karagounis could get that extra confidence and stay with us.

I used to think we should have sold Kara, for his career's sake mostly, but if we sell Davids and Emre, he could be useful and get to play more often.

Materazzi must have been bad (even if trusting the opinion of you Matrix-haters is not really advisable), but in the end Cagliari scored from 2 free kicks, so it was much noise about nothing.

We'll see who we'll get in the final, I kinda hope Roma, because it'd be easier, and Roma v Inter is more of a big game than Udinese v Inter (only on paper!).

Do we know who's playing the first leg at home? I really hope it's not us, so that if we win it, we can lift it at the Meazza.

My ratings :

Carini 7,5: didn't have much to do else than 1 punch and 1 good save vs zola.

JZ 7: Would have had more but he missed the ball which let to calgliari's goal.

Cordoba 7,5: Good job.

Miha 7: Partly to blame for not being tight enough when the goal occured.

Matrix 7: Great fouling on eposito lucky not to get a yellow. :D

Cambiasso 8,5: Great performance did well in defense and offense.

Veron 8,5: Was the driving force in the midfield we missed him we he went off.

Kily 7,5: Good performance give us with.

Oba 8,5: Great performance really troubled the defenders and give a good assit for vieri's first goal.

Vieri 9: Great comba with oba. 2 good goals but the second was ahndball by him 1st. Not that I care.

Stankovic 7: Better performance from deki.

CZ 7: Did well to disrupt calgliari

Ze Maria not enough time.

On the bobo-oba partnership compared to the adri-oba partnership. Offcourse bobo-oba is going to have a better understanding since they have played more games together. IMHO Oba-Adri can be just as good.

I am is still of the opinion that adri-oba should be the starters and vieri the third choice next season.

Im really proud of our Inter today guys, we played just beautifull football just simply beautifull. I may not be a Mancini fan but I have to admit that the guy has given our team a real attacking identity wich I like :).

I mean the first half was simply non stop enjoyment for a Interista fan, I didnt even want to move one second from my place to pick up a drink, it was sheer action packed. But what would Inter be if they never let there fans suffer, just when everything looks to go simple we make it difficult. That goal never should have been conceded but hell it made the match more open and we should have scored 1 or 2 more goals courtesy our counters.

As for some of the players:

Karagounis: :proud: I swear I love this guy, what a hard worker and a real passionate player. He was one of the stars today no doubt, with his bombarding shots he was always a threat to Cagliari and also showed some of his skill. He MUST stay no doubt about it a real loyal hard worker :) .

Vieri: Aaaah the bomber showed why he was so feared a couple of seasons ago did everything right. Passed well, controlled the high balls well and most importantly scored 2 and gave a assist. Not to mention his great great understanding with Oba. Did u see his celebration after the first goal?? Where he was holding Martins from behind like he was his brother ;) Nice nice stuff.

Veron: When he is in form this man is in a class of his own, okay he may lose us some balls spray passes like he is sending them to his hometown for his family but at the end of the day u cant deny the fact that this man is our brain in the midfield and that he is one of the reason's we keep possesion and can dictate our opponents like we do. He was great today again and also won some great balls for us. La Brujita :star:

Now I dont care who the other finalist will be, cause with our team and our players we can beat EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE on this football shaped planet.

:proud: FORZA INTER :proud:

:star: 2005 the new Inter dictated era starts :star:

OBAGOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are in some final after 17 years

Not really we were in the UEFA final during 1998 and lets not forget the final VS Lazio in 2000 for Coppa Italia. By the way I think we should keep Vieri with us for another season. :)

After a long wait of 7 years, Inter finally look set to win their first trophy. I'm happy that we're in this position, but equally so for Vieri, who has proven that despite his age, his overall contributions to the team is immensely important. I hope the weight of expectation doesn't burden this team any further, but if we can just get that chip off our shoulder, winning the Coppa Italia will be a huge morale and confidence booster. It may be the 4th most important trophy in a season's worth, but god knows how desperate the fans are to get back on the track to winning ways. Let's start here!

Oh and, thanks for the various match reports guys. :)

Ciao,
Tim

I watched the game and it was wonderful - what we need now is a wonderful coreography from the Nord in the final!

Adriano - #10
I'm really happy for the boys who went out on the field and got the job done. Some very nice performances by the likes of Karagounis, Vieri, Veron, and co. and I'm starting to really, really, really think that we will win this thing.

I'm getting excited just imagining what our black and blue shirts will be like with the Coppa Italia badge on it. :proud: Our time is now, and I'm sure that whoever we meet up in the final we can defeat, if the side retains its good play. FORZA INTER, FORZA RAGAZZI :star: :star: :star:

greatr game, almost perfect except for giving away that goal which was miha's only fault of the game.

sad to see adriano a bit unpleasent, but his time will come again.

Oba was really looking tired in the end and he screwed up a few times but forza ragazzi.

Crespo, Figo, I
why was adriano unhappy ?
Vieri - Oba pair has always been great for 95% of the time...
one of the reason is that Oba and Vieri have such good friends to each other... I probably have said it many times here that Vieri always scream happily and sincerely when Oba create goals even when Vieri is on the bench... This is something a bit special coz Vieri is worldclass striker who is ussually being unhappy to sit on the bench.... But he accepted this gracefully when Oba played... I believe Oba can benefit so much from Vieri since he's the best experienced striker we have.. Recoba hasnt been benefited from his talent to excel and you can expect Oba to learn much from Cruz...
Adriano, Martins and another young striker that we will have next season can benefit from Vieri...

I will regret if we release Vieri after this season..., I know we pay lot of money for his services even after he has accepted pay cuts several times..

ah I am babling on Vieri...

but from this game, we can see more clearly who's gonna stay and who's gonna leave at the end of the season....

I am glad we win, but we need two more of this kind of performance, and the next team we play in the final is certainly harder
