Pretty confident Belgium's first goal was offside.

Nope, the Russian player failed to clear the ball, which makes him onside. Had he let the ball go it would've been offside, but since it was a failed clearance Lukaku's position doesn't matter.

The player fails to clear the ball, because he attempted to clear the ball away from Lukaku who was interfering. Clear offside. If the law is unclear on this it should make it clear.

This is blatant abuse of the offside rule which explicitly suggests that unfair disadvantage of the offensive player needs to be eliminated. Here the offensive player makes fulle abuse of the situation. Never a goal. If Inter conceded this everyone would be rightfully fuming.

Lukaku wasn't interfering tho, he wasn't anywhere close the player. It was a misshit. Had Lukaku been interfering in any way it would've been off, but Lukaku's not at fault for the Russian player having shit technique.

How was he not interfering if the defender clears the ball so that it doesn't reach him?

Refs killed Russia's chances here with what I hope will be the only shitty big call in the tournament.

He didn't cause him to misshit it. The Russian intended to play the ball forward, but he failed. Therefore there's no offside.

They didn't kill shit because it wasn't a shitty call.

Nice to watch our beast grabbing his goals and to see his message to Eriksen.

Also very impressive to watch the Danish and Finnish fans during the incident, even if it's debatable if that sort of stuff should still be televised to begin with. Unforgettable at any rate. Interesting day at the EUROS...

2005311[/URL]]Congratulations CC and Finland.

All things considered, I still think we’re the real victors.

Thanks, though totally undeserved victory. Huge victory for Finland in a vacuum, but given the context and what happened, definitely super mixed feelings. First thing, Finland was utter shit. Honestly we were absolutely terrible. Not only one shot on goal but one attempt. And not only that but our possession was like less than 40% with 64% passing rate. Excuse me what? It was just terrible. We defended but we did even that so poorly that I don't know what to say. :D

Second thing, it all came down to Denmark not finishing the chances. And unfortunately it had a lot to do with that incident as they were not mentally the same anymore. For Finland it was the same survival battle from start to finish so the mental model was different (was the same all game long) although it affected them too surely but the magnitude of effect wasn't the same as the Danes. Kjaer couldn't finish the match (not a tactical sub). And surely the others wanted to just finish the game and be done with it.

As one thing which wasn't mentioned here. It was announced both teams decided to continue (Finland did what Denmark wanted). But Uefa forced Denmark to choose between finishing the game in that night or finishing it today (Sunday). Players surely felt better to play it now and not having to go to sleep and trying to prepare for the match over the night and morning when they are only thinking how Eriksen will do. So once again Uefa managed to do the wrong thing. They could have postponed the match to a later date.

Doesn't feel as ecstatic as this victory would in normal circumstances would feel (as probably that victory wouldn't happen, even if Eriksen went down just with a normal injury). Anyway, our chances to qualify out of the grouos in this historic tournament (for Finland) just went up drastically

What a horrible match that Denmark game was, i was at a restaurant, supposed to celebrate a double 70's birthday, but as everyone are football fans, all the talk went to the Eriksen incident, we even thought he was dead at a time. Absolutely horrible, but he pulled through, thankfully.

Gotta love how Lukaku shouted out to Eriksen into the camera, after his first goal.

Barella also gave big props to Milans Simon Kjær (danish captain) as well.
Good stuff.

It was also great to hear the fins and danes all singing/shouting for Eriksen and the Fin's clapping the danish team back on the field when it was finally resumed.

Eriksen survived, thankfully, now they need to find the cause of the incident. If its an undiagnosed heart defect his career is sadly over, probably.

From a football perspective, its another bad luck for Denmark. They had a pretty promising team this year, especially playing all group games at home. But without eriksen and losing against Finland they are out already, gotta feel sad for the danish supporters. Im old enough (sadly) to remember the great danish team in the 80's, when Allan Simonsen (former Ballon d'Or winner) had a horrific knee injury, which hurt their chances quite abit in 84 despite having a great team that did well even without him.

I dont understand why they finished the game tbh, i think it was probably for the people in the stadium. read both the Fin's and the Dane's wanted to finish the game, though UEFA wanted it to be played behind closed doors today instead. Poor judgement by Denmark to finish the game, as they were clearly upset about the Eriksen incident and ended up losing to a team they should beat 95/100 times and they are now out of the tournament already.

No Witsel, Hazard or De Bruyne is fucked up. But for these games the rest should be enough. Again putting Mertens on the RW :palm:
