I just hope he succeeds with us if he comes. He seems like a pretty nice chap and can win with us.

I'm not really sure how to respond but Gian Piero with his Genoa has never dropped below 10th in Serie A. In 2008-2009 he achieved 5th place while Allegri was 9th. This fact makes me feel confident on him. However, if he is good enough to compete in Europe is the thing worries me. Mancini and Allegri did good in the league but failed in European stages. If we choose Gian Piero, hopefully he has an idea how to compete in CL.

That 5th place finish gives me hope, they were level with Fiorentina for the final CL spot. I would rather this than a rash high paid appointment who we could have to get rid of in just a few months. Now maybe the time to cash in on Wes,Eto'o and maicon however. Go quite a bit younger and look for some value in the market.

Crotone 2002/03: Serie C1 6th Place, 19 points from 1st
Crotone 2003/04: Serie C1 2nd Place, 2 points from 1st

Genoa 2005/06: Serie C1 2nd Place
Genoa 2006/07: Serie B 3rd Place

So basically the guy took a decent C1 team and got them promoted in his first try. He also kept them afloat in Serie B, even finishing in the top 10 his final season. Then he takes a team just promoted from C1 and finishes 3rd in a Serie B that included Napoli and Juventus. He then not only keeps them alive in Serie A but actually finishes fifth two seasons later!

The man knows how to win without having much, so to me that is a good sign. Think of it this way, Benitez managed big clubs like Valencia and Liverpool and still only managed to win a small percentage of games more than Gasperini. Lippi, Cuper, Del Bosque, Ramos...all these guys won about the same percentage of games as Gasperini yet they were all at huge clubs at some point. If Gasperini can do this with small clubs, I think it can only get better with a squad like Inter...

What Leonardo lacks.

He prefers a 3 man defense. Lets see if he's tactically competent and adjusts to the situation like good coaches do.

Honestly Gasperini may be an upgrade to Mancini and Allegri. Allegri did worse than Gasperini and he was given a team that was in Serie A a few seasons, not a club that had just been promoted from C1. Although Mancini won the Coppa Italia, he also got Fiorentina relegated. Mancini did better with Lazio, but still only managed a 4th place and 6th place finish...with a team much much stronger than Genoa.

It is easy to say "he hasn't won anything" but how many managers have won something with a team just promoted from the third division, within 5 years?

What i fear about gasperini is his tactic with a 3 man defence . I said it about bielsa and i'll say it for gasperini too : No big teams play with a 3 man defence and i think there is a reason about that. I hope he has discussed this with branca during his meetings. And please no criscito

I agree with you vito. Mancio started with a poor job with Inter. I still remember those many draws in a row. Anyway, as I said, the thing that worries me is if Gasperini can cope with the pressure in Europe. I'm not worried about Gasperini. He seems good in picking players and develop them into a star like Rano, Milito and Motta.

All I can to you is that not every coach will stick to one formation because they must adapt. Surely, there is one stubborn fat man who always tries to implement his tactics everywhere though he fails miserably. But, most managers will try to adapt. Jose tried 4-3-3 then eventually changed to 4-2-3-1 or whatever. Gian Piero doesn't seem to be a stubborn guy.

Well, to give something to Allegri, Cagliari was and is economically on a totally different level compared to Genoa.

I wish Milan would have thought like you...we would have collected our 6th straight Scudetto...

Hmm... So you think he would do a good job if he gets appointed. Well, guess we all have to wait & see for ourselves.

Another wasted season ahead of us...

No one will conceive us serious team. We would be just big team who everyone would be happy to play against.

Work in progress, demotivational for the players, shame between millions of fans.

We are huge club, who won amazing treble just 2 years ago, and we lost on every field we competed.

Welcome to Inter Mr. Gian Piero Gasperini.

Cagliari Expenditures:
2008/09: £12.3m
2009/10: £6.5m

Genoa Expenditures:
2006/07: £4.7m
2007/08: £11m

Genoa splashed in 2008/09 and 2009/10 no doubt, but they spent less in Gasperini's first 2 years than Cagliari spent in Allegri's first 2 years. Remember Allegri took over a Serie A squad so he shouldn't have needed as much money as a club that recently came from Serie C1...

I think Cagliari have a team that should be able to compete with Genoa esp in 2008/2009 season. Well, to be fair, Allegri pulled Cagliari from 14th to 9th then dropped to 12th before he was sacked. Gasperini brought Genoa from Serie B to 10th place to 5th place then dropped to 9th after they sold their backbone (Milito and Motta) to us.

Why are you so negative? If clubs can win a title by just having others scared to play them, Napoli would have won much. No one scared of us 6-10 years ago. Now, who would have thought Bilan with Allegri won the scudetto instead of us as the treble winner? The ball is still round. The goal is on the count. We can be underestimated and if other clubs are not scared to play against us, it would probably an advantage for us. We scare them only on the pitch. *positive injection needed*
