He has definitely done an excellent job on Giroud in all of the derbies. Obviously Giroud did make the assist for the goal, but Giroud is a quality, experienced striker so you can't keep him quiet for 90 minutes 5 games in a row.
Very happy with Acerbi as I thought he'd be rusty but it wasn't noticeable.
Never thought I'd say this when he arrived at Inter, but he became one of my favourite Inter players - excellent mentality wise, and simply a beast defender.
A lot of it comes down Inzaghi already having a long-standing relationship with him, knowing exactly how to implement him into his team, and Acerbi having a strong enough character to integrate himself quickly into the side. Not sure he’d be excelling as much as he is elsewhere. Not trying to diminish his achievements, he’s a skilled and drilled defender with loads of experience. Hopefully his physique holds up.
Chaps can we take a moment to appreciate the stability and leadership of Acerbi. Rarely hears his name on live broadcast and that means he's doing a jolly good job.
Hopefully this is the last match we're seeing him as LCB. He's very bad on this position.
Maybe try Augusto instead or think of a solution because we're gonna face serious issues against a team that attacks us or has competitive players on that flank.
He just offers nothing as an LCB. He's terrible in the attacking phase and is put in more difficult positions defensively compared to when playing centrally. Even the simple passes from him are so heavy and make it difficult for the receiving player to get under control.
Agreed with everyone. Our system relies heavily on wide CBs even when attacking. So having a heavy CB with average speed and passing skills in that position will surely kill our play.
