I dont think he was that important to our team. He was never truly pivotal for us.

He had the potential to be very important for us, granted, but right now? Not so much.

He was our most important midfielder, that shouldn't a doubt. Near the end of last season when he was getting some consistency in that deeper role he looked great.

You can't buy a player with Kovacic's talent for anything close to 35 mill nowadays.


When I think about it, Kondogbia + Perisic isn't THAT bad on paper instead of kovacic. and if we have structured our deals so that we arent fucked if we dont qualify for champions league this season, then fassone deserves credit where its due. ausilio/mancini shouldnt deserve any props in this mercato because i still think we should expect more when you consider how much we have committed to spend.

How was he the most important midfielder?

Both Hernanes and Guarin equalled or bettered his goal tally in the league, bettered his assists, etc.

He was ON THE WAY to being our most important midfielder, but by NO WAY was he already there.
