Burdisso, Ibra,
lagerback is the biggest idiot loser ever. how many damn times does he have to play svensson over kallstrom before he gets the idea that svensson sucks. seriously, it must be 3-4 times hes done this now and it has cost sweden. a starter for Lyon or one for elfsborg. who would you choose?
Svensson, any day of the week. Kallström is overrated and slow and have never really played well in the NT.

Lagerbäck has lost 5 qualifier games in 9 years. I think he has a pretty good idea about what he's doing. The only thing I'd critisize him about is that he relys to much on the old guys. Ljungberg for example, he hasnt played anything this season and is coming back from his 956th injury, i wouldnt rely on him in a game against Spain in Madrid.

Svensson should play, he should've played Daniel Anderssons position as a DM from the start with Källström in front of him imo.

Really weak stuff, did we even have a shot at goal during the entire match? Embarrassing performance. We'll most likely still go through, but we're not going to go far in euro 2008, no way in hell.

Also, I'm sick of Willhelmsson. Is he afraid of bigger teams or something? Sure he can perform against Lichtenstein and the like, but he always seems to freeze during the bigger games. He's a huge disappointment. I think Kennedy Bakircioglü, a starter at Ajax, is much better.

Tough break for Scotland at the end there. Spanish refs fvck up once again. Nevertheless, stupendous that Italia is through. A tournament just isn't the same without them, though I will be glad to see Matrix back in the side. Despite being an Azzurri supporter, I despise half the team due to their club connections.

And I can't believe people are rooting against the English. There are few things more pleasurable in the footballing world, then an overrated English squad making a tournament and then proceeding to crash and burn, much to the dismay of the English-speaking world, who beforehand, make them out to be the "team to beat".

The Scotland-Italy match was incredibly tense, one of the better games I've gotten to watch. The ball was always moving and it only started to lag after Italy scored the goal.

QUOTE]

I think the first goal came in first minute and second in last. So either the entire game lagged or none of it :S

Terrible conditions for football, that match should have been postponed or at least played in other stadium..Luckily, it didn't mean much to us either as we already qualified due to Russia's failure to win in Israel..

Congrats anyway.. :)

Domenech: I motivated Italy
Saturday 17 November, 2007
Raymond Domenech has taken the credit for Italy and France both reaching Euro 2008. “At least they were useful for once.”

The Bleus boss has made a habit of sniping comments towards the Azzurri, especially after the World Cup Final won on penalties in Germany.

Italy’s 2-1 victory in Scotland automatically qualified both Roberto Donadoni’s side and France for the tournament.

“They won because my words motivated them,” smiled Domenech, who had suggested this week that Italy were ‘draw specialists.’

“I didn’t see the game, as I prefer not to force myself to sit through too many ugly things. I feel both relieved and frustrated, as to be honest I would have preferred to play the last game in Ukraine with the need for a result.

“This is the strength of our squad, the ability to hold out under pressure, when we are afraid of elimination. I shall miss that sensation.”

If Italy had drawn in Glasgow, France simply needed to avoid defeat in Kiev on Wednesday evening, but now that tie and the Azzurri’s against the Faroe Islands only serve to decide which of the two teams top Group B.

“I am happy anyway, as if we are qualified today then it means that we deserved it,” concluded Domenech.

That ass French wanna start another brawl against Italy

Another magical night in Belfast for our wee country........
Game probably should have been called off but Uefa obviously flexed their muscles. Amazing win over Denmark gives N.Ireland the slightest of very slight chances of qualifying. We need a miracle victory in Spain, and another miracle victory from Latvia in Sweden.......

Neither may happen but either way we've had an amazing performance of beating Spain, Sweden and Denmark all at home, whilst drawing away to Sweden and Denmark.......the defeats home and away to Iceland (of all teams) has truly killed us.

On another note, David Healy has once defied belief with another world class goal and has surpassed Davor Suker's record total of 12 goals in a qualifying campaign. 13 goals from a genius in an otherwise run of mill side is a hell of feat.
Onwards to Spain.............

Thank God for Isreal for saving our lives now we will be at Euro 2008 (although the competion is still a complete farse and i will not be taking it seriously).

And to the people taking the piss out of Crouchy and Heskey (especially you Shaz) it is a fact that Crouch is one of the most prolific strikers at international level in recent years. And Heskey is the most underated player ever. OK he doesnt score many goals but look how many he sets up. And Michael Owen said in an interview Heskey was the best player he has ever played with, and he has played with people like Fowler, Raul, Litmanen, Shearer etc...

Totally gutted for Scotland (i'm part Italian and Scottish) but they deserved a draw and its a shame they wont be at Euro 08. I wanted those damned French to not qualify, but as long as England are there im happy!!

Oh and Pajo Macedonia beat Croatia WTF!!!

I'm happy Isreal won, as the Euro finals wouldn't be real without England.

Wonder if I can
European Championship record for England

1960 - Did not enter
1964 - Did not qualify
1968 - Third Place
1972 - Did not qualify
1976 - Did not qualify
1980 - Round 1
1984 - Did not qualify
1988 - Round 1
1992 - Round 1
1996 - Semi Finals
2000 - Round 1
2004 - Quarter Finals

Why exactly it wouldn't be a real tournament without this 3rd class European country???

What's more, Russia/USSR has better EC record so why they shouldn't qualify instead of these jokes?

ARRRGGGGGHHHH stupid Israel, stupid Russia. For once, I though Israel were going to do something useful, but no, they had to win. God damn pieces of crap, Russia played so much better football.
at 1-1 in the 89th, when the russian player missed a sitter, I felt like crying, then even worse, Israel scored. Had Russia atleast managed a draw from this game, England would have had to win against Croatia, now England just have to get a point against Croatia, and its all good for them. Croatia dont have anything to play for.
I wish Russia had atleast gotten a draw. SO that England would have needed to win their game against Croatia. I dont expect England to beat a full strenght and a fully motivated Croatian side. I think the maximum they can get against Croatia even at home is a signle point.

And stupid freakin Italy. Why did they have to score the 2nd goal. As much as it would have pain me to see a british team Scotland qualify, I would have preffered Scotland to qualify over Domenech's France.
