Israel's first qualifying match against Estonia is coming up in about a week, does anybody know if this will be on American TV? If not, any idea where to look to stream it?

I think they've got a decent chance to escape the group. Obviously England and either Croatia or Russia are favored, but they've got a shot. I believe Israel just barely missed out on World Cup qualification on tiebreakers (I want to say to Switzerland?)?

Our profile from uefa.com

Slovakia's star in the ascendant

How did they perform in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification round?
• One of the pleasant surprises of the European zone qualification round of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Slovakia made the play-offs, and although their defeat to Spain was clear-cut, 12 performances in which six victories and five draws were recorded showed a team that have made a significant step forward.
• Six games into their campaign, Slovakia had retained an unbeaten record with four victories. The statistics will point to comprehensive home victories against Liechtenstein (7-0) and a second half four-goal salvo against Latvia (4-1), but two 1-1 draws, away against Russia and home against Portugal, showed that Slovakia had the ability to compete with two teams that had played at the UEFA EURO 2004™ finals.
• Although Slovakia lost 2-0 on their subsequent trip away to Portugal, and there were dropped points away to Liechtenstein (0-0) and Latvia (1-1), victories away against Luxembourg (4-0) and at home against Estonia (1-0) meant that a draw against Russia in Bratislava in their final match would be enough would secure a play-off place.
• The Slovakians held their nerve as the match ended in a scoreless stalemate, leaving them with a two-legged play-off against Spain.
• But they would feel Spanish wrath in the play-offs, losing 5-1 in Madrid following a Luis García hat-trick (10, 18 and 75) with Fernando Torres (65) and Fernando Morientes (79) also on target. The return leg in Bratislava ended in a 1-1 stalemate with Filip Hološko's 50th-minute goal cancelled by David Villa's equaliser 20 minutes later.

How did they perform in UEFA EURO 2004™?
• With three victories and a draw from their eight matches in the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying round, Slovakia failed to threaten the dominance of England or Turkey in terms of the chase for a place at the finals in Portugal.
• In the end, the Slovakians ended ten points behind group winners, England, and nine behind Turkey in second. All of their ten points came against teams ranked below them in the final standings thanks to victories home and away against Liechtenstein and away against F.Y.R. Macedonia.
• Although they lost all four matches against the group principles, Slovakia led at the interval against England at Middlesbrough's Riverside stadium thanks to Vladimir Janočko's 31st-minute goal. But England got back into the game when Michael Owen converted from the spot on the hour mark before he added the winning goal eleven minutes later.

What is their best performance in the UEFA European Championship?
• As part of the former state of Czechoslovakia, Slovakian players were involved in winning the 1976 UEFA European Championship against West Germany. The final ended in a 2-2 stalemate in Belgrade before the Czechoslovak side won 5-3 on penalties with Antonín Panenka cheekily chipping in the final spot-kick for Václav Ježek's side.

Key facts
• To date, Slovakia have participated in the competition three times as an independent state, finishing in third position on each occasion. Their best points tally came in the UEFA EURO 2000™ qualifying round when they collected 17 points from ten outings. Twelve of those points came in home-and-away defeats of Liechtenstein and Azerbaijan, with their most impressive performance coming in Gyor where a Martin Fabuš goal after 53 minutes provided them with their first-ever victory against their Hungarian neighbours. Their remaining points came in scoreless draws at home against Hungary and away against Romania.

All-time record
• Up until the start of qualifying for UEFA EURO 2008™, Slovakia had appeared in the UEFA European Championship on three occasions, and had played 28 matches. In that time, they had won twelve, drawn five and lost eleven with 37 goals scored and 36 conceded.

Sadly we start this qualification without Róbert Vittek but I hope we won't have any problem against Cyprus. Second match againt Czechs will be hard nut to crack and we will need to score from every opportunity.

lol, it's going to be a massacre. and guess who the victim will be, let me give you a hint the teams name start with the letter C :p

anyway we have to get 3 points against Island on Wednesday anything else will be a major disappointment.

but I'm very optimistic after the game against Portugal which we won with 4-2.

and Nicklas Bendtner score his second goal for the national team in just as many games and this lad is only 18 years old. :star:

Nah! We'll let you win at your home, since I kinda like you :p You're a good kid to get a heat-attack so soon! Maybe we can save the heart-attacks for your Czech "brothers"!!!

Seriously now, Cyprus is not as bad as it is made. We won't have our best striker, Michalis Konstantinou, but we are confident that we will lose with dignity :D:D:D

Great game by Denmark I enjoyed your quick through balls and goals (through Ricardo's legs ). I liked the man you had in the defence marking Nuno Gomes (can't remember his name), he didn't give Nuno an inch also your defensive system (offside trap) worked very well.

Great play by the wings, the Portuguese defensive phase was at amateur level and you took great advantage of that. And of course I liked young Nicklas Bendtner, I think he was loaned by Arsenal wasn't he? Wenger will make a star out of him.

I can only hope that we improve for our game against Finland.

lol, yeah we had like 3 goals through his legs, what an armature.

yeah allot worked well yesterday, and especially the quick through balls as you mentioned, if I was you I would be a little concerned when a team of Denmark's calibre without any stars owned you so much. you really have to do something about the defence or else you won't qualify, but still our major problem is those set pieces and that is a bit of a problem when you have a team like Sweden in your group. And it hardly makes it better when we have Spain too a team we have never won against well at least not in my lifetime.

Nicklas Bendtner is loaned out to Birmingham City, but I think he will return in a couple of years when he has gotten a little more experience, Arsenal know that it isn't a good idea to let this talented young lad sit on the bench which will be the case if he played in Arsenal. But I have high hopes for him, especially when you take the fact that Arsenal have high thoughts of him, he might become the star striker we have been missing in our national team.

Slovensko - Cyprus 6:1 (9' Martin Škrteľ, 33' Marek Mintál, 43' Filip Šebo, 48' Filip Šebo, 52' Miroslav Karhan, 55' Marek Mintál - Giasemakis in additional time)

Easy victory, practise match for Marek Mintál and Szilárd Németh. Btw. Filip Šebo scored 5 goals in 2 matches for our NT.

Czechs 2:1 Wales and I bet it was lucky victory.

Now we have to prepare for match with our big rivals. I hope Filip Šebo and Róbert Vittek will be our starting strikers. Our defence and midfield are great, we will have to score from every opportunity and I believe we will win that game.

Haha! You got a glimpse of the Cypriot talent

We just wanted to give a bad impression at first so that we could stun the rest of you!

Seriously, congrats to Slovakia!

The Cyprus coach is sleeping! He's Greek, knows shit about Cypriot players in Cyprus(most of them are) and one thing that he can't be blamed is for using bad strikers! We had our 3 best strikers injured for that game! :p

Charalambidis, a right winger, was used on the left!
Makridis, a free-role attacking midfielder, capable of playing on the left, was used on the right, even if he can't play good there!
The right back, Marios Elia, is not even a choice at Apoel, and he's starting for the national team!

He's a good coach, all he needs to do, is hope he has the strikers ready, and make sure that he watches at least the highlights of the league!

Yes I do remember. We played better in that match... The on;y mistake of the "KOMITI" was that they burned English flag... Everything else was great.
And Yes, Sakiri told Beckham he will be killed at the end of the game...

Hey, and do you remember that goal Sakiri scored in the first game against England? THE GOAL THAT RETIRED SEAMAN!!! - EuroSport comentator , goal directly from corner. We played 2-2 there, in the middle of England...

Btw, tomorrow at 3:00 PM out fans Komiti will play the english fans on the support court on Gradski... Personally, I don't like this idea, we all know the English fans, and I know ours... So there will be huge problems... I just hope everything will be OK. There are over 2500 fans from Engand.

Less than 19 hours to teh begining of the game... I can hardly wait!!! FORZA MACEDONIA!!!

It seems Slovakia will be without Vittek against Czechs. I hope our strikers duo will be Hološko-Šebo. Can't watch Németh wasting every good opportunity.

Portugal plays Finland today and will try to wash away the game against Denmark, Scolari said that he expects Portugal to get 7/8 points until the end of the year because he thinks that the Portuguese team is in a very low condition right now.

I think it's good for Scolari to be prudent but I feel that he should have set the level a bit higher.

For this game Deco and Petit will be back to the first team, with the new Portuguese jewel, Nani, making his debut on official games for the "first" Portuguese NT. I expect some of the mistakes made against Denmark to be corrected, I'm hopeful but not overconfident.

we play against Island now, and at half time the score is 2-0 to us.

we have played okay, but not as spectacular as we played against Portugal, but we should really try to get the 3'rd goal which will close the game.

I just hope that Sweden and Spain will lose some points tonight.
