Official: Dodo from Roma to Inter

Roma have officially sent Brazilian full-back Dodo to Inter on a two-year loan, but is effectively a purchase for €9m.

The negotiations had been going for several days and was confirmed by a statement on the official Roma website.

The player, full name Jose Rodolfo Pires Ribeiro, is loaned to Inter for two seasons at a cost of €1.2m.

However, the statement notes “this includes an obligatory buy-out clause for €7.8m to be activated at the player’s first official game.”

Essentially, this is a purchase for €9m, but moving the bulk of the financial burden a year down the road.

The 22-year-old left-back only arrived at Roma from Corinthians in July 2012.

We basically bough him. It is just dealt as a loan so we could pay some money this year and some next year.

Ausilio really showed how tough negotiator he is.

I have not seen enough Dodo to evaluate him but 9 million for left back is pretty big fee. Might be even the biggest signing in this summer!

To be fair you didn't really elaborate on why you think it is a terrible deal.

I think we've overpaid from the perspective that Roma bought him for 400,000E. However, I do feel that it's quite possible that we'll look back at this being a rather good deal.

He's got a lot of talent. If he continues to develop we'll have a great player.

You said "deal". But you dont say WHY so the first thing i think is because of the player, not because of the loan option.

Yeah, really. We can consider Dodo a 9m€ transfer. So we just bought a 9m€ LB backup.

This has to mean Mazzarri is going to continue with wingbacks and he wants heavy rotation to those roles. Still, 9m€ player needs to be a HECK of a player IMO since we're not buying him to our starting lineup.
