Disagree. He is a class defender. Would you play with Chiellini right now (about to be 35)? Still top material with no signs of slowing down. You think Chiellini is done after this season or will be playing high level next season too (when he'll be 36)?

And even if Godin slows down CONSIDERABLY at 36, he'll serve to be an excellent backup. EXCELLENT backup.

Good thing is we have a staple CB duo already. This is just a luxury to current situation. World class CB to rotational role. If Godin is brought in to be a starter, I'm sure the one pushed to bench will ask to be transferred.

Makes sense to get him if Inter wants definitely to go big and get 2 proper midfielders, Barella and someone else who is at same level.

Fantastic signing. 5.5m a year is not much for a proven defender like him, considering it's a free transfer.

And we need 3 CBs assuming we qualify for CL and wish to go far in CL/Coppa.

And the best part is that irrespective of which 2 of Skriniar, De Vrij, Godin play, we will have 2 CBs who have the potential to score from corners/FKs.

And Godin is class, not world class. If you want me to list more of such typical marotta transfers here,
Llorente, Coman, Evra etc. I can literally give you a starting 11 of free signings.
Then comes his very smart signings like Vidal for 15mil, wooch for 10? Sandro for 24, Costa snd dybala for 40 each.

That, and opportunistic. There are a 100 bowman players each mercato but he only signed quality for us and a few of them simply world class. So this is a class signing and very typical Marotta.
