The only problem with Godin is he isn't a great free kick taker like Kolarov.

Why? You seen Vidic together with Ferdinand? Those 2 fuckers were one of the best duos ever. Vidic was smart, strong, great 1 on 1 and only lacked speed. Shame ir lasted for few years only, but at his best, Vidic WAS one of the best.

And those mentioned are also one of the best ever. Wel, depends on what you you guys mean by " one of the best in history". Top 5, top 10? Its history man. Top 30 CBs will be the best now, world lacks world class CBs.

Are we just going to keep buying one great CB for free every summer? That's a policy I can get behind.

I hope everyone who doesn't want him here because of some absurd reason, has seen the todays game.

And no, I am not saying this because he scored
(...although remember he does it when you need it!)

Best duos ever? Come on. Not even the best duo of their generation. And it was also during a time of probably the worst decline in club football we've seen since the 70s. That 2005-2008 era had a reforming Barcelona, a shaky Milan side and pretty much nothing else. Real Madrid was picking up mostly trash players, Milan was still hanging onto their core, we on the other hand were stuck with clueless Mancini, Juventus was rotting in Serie B, Bayern Muncih forgot how to win and Lyon who was the only important team from France was dying.

There's nothing spectacular about being great in that era. They don't even have much to show for it. A CL win on penalties? Go back to the last 16 bracket and tell me who the great teams were. Roma? Barcelona was terrible that year and Real Madrid lost twice to freaking Roma in the first round.

As for Vidic himself, he was only on the top for that brief period of time. 2006 to 2011 or so. He's nowhere near Nesta, Lucio, Samuel, Stam, Cannavaro, Ricardo Carvalho and Puyol, just to name some of his contemporaries.

I'd have Vidic over Puyol all day long. Not over the rest listed though.

Sorry to burst your bubbles...he's not coming here to sit on the bench.

Either he will be number 3 in a back 3...or goodbye DV or Skri

I already said this weeks ago but my gut says it's deV to the bench. He already makes too many mistakes and lapses in concentration during games. Skriniar is not eating bench no matter who. Godin-Skriniar is pretty boss.

Godin is coming to replace Miranda, not Skriniar or de Vrij. He will probably be seeing more playing time than Miranda so that's the only issue our two main starters will have.

I second that. Skriniar with experienced top centre back could easily surpass Van Dijk's performances. And I don't want eurocups loser Conte here no matter how great our back three will be. DeVrij will be 3rd choice CB competing with Bastoni/Andersen next season.

Of course in reality with Inter's luck Godin is gonna tear his ACL in September so will be a complete flop.
