The improvement in playing the wingback position since he arrived is impressive. Micah Richards spoke about it in post-match commentary. Technical ability aside, I think we underestimate his ability off the ball to know when to defend and when to attack. Then also having the engine and physique to do both at a high level. When you combine that with his mentality and attitude he contributes a lot to the team when he’s in form.

There is a lot that pissed me off about him this season, but to be fair to him, he has stepped it up in big games with the way he was playing. He still fucked up chances, but in defence he is a monster right now and I will always appreciate players that give their all even if they sometimes have horrible technique or poor decision skills. His positioning in defence AND attack has been great. In a wing where you have Leao, Theo and sometimes Tonali, that's not easy to kinda always be availlable for a pass.

He does the work on one side that Dimarco has more space on the other. I'm simplifying how that works, but it is kinda true, he goes from being a defensive RWB in a 352 to a winger in a 433 quite quickly, which makes the opposition worry, which makes it easier for us to find space for Dimarco rushing forward more often.
I do still believe he should be sold, he might bring us a nice fee.

I just want to say once again that Dumfries is not a low IQ player, as some members said before. He is an athlete, who is limited technically and making easy penalties, but he knows how to get the maximum from a particular situation. For instance, there was a moment when Theo tried to catch a deflected ball with his leg. Dumfries was behind him, saw his action, and immediately jumped with his head towards the ball. He perfectly knew it that this will be a foul for us, and he squeezed the maximum there.

He has improved a lot in the past weeks. But I would still sell him for the right price. We need a good clean up in this summer. We need to address several issues in this team on many aspects: age, wage, depth and players characteriatics. We need to use our resources properly if we want to stay competitive without getting ourselves fucked financially and result wise.
