He played better with the beard He got tired and lost all steam early in second half. Not a good sign if he was bought to be a starter.

Yeah he didn't have the legs but it was also 35 degrees out there.

Overall he wasn't anything special, but I wouldn't say he was an unnecessary buy. We finally have a proper midfield, almost every combination of three players is cool with me (just that one of Gags or Vecino plays to add some steel to our midfield)

He will have better matches for us no doubt. He was fine today, but defensively we were definitely struggling more with him on the pitch in the 2nd half than once he left.

he was kinda clumsy tonight, but i dont doubt his importance for this team. he is going to be an immense player throughout the season.

players like him only get better in time. borja is an intelligent player and his presence in the pitch will be crucial for the team and he is going to make it easy for the teammates.

He did better in the first half. He had some great touches, but also made some mistakes in the second half.

I agree that he will improve and have better matches. Vecino was better today though.

He will be fine but again, I don't think he should be starting every week with his age and how much our midfield needs to cover each game. He will be critical though against some of the less ambitious teams who will force us to unlock a stingy defense.

Ya it was the first real game and it was against his former team that we know he feels emotional about. I suspect he will be much better going forward...but we should be careful not to burn him out.

Guess I'm the minority but he had a great game for me. Controlled the midfield, kept us ticking, our play revolved around him completely. Should've signed him sooner he was available for peanuts then.
