Nah, he's doing an easy job.
He was supposed to have sleepless nights trying offload Mario, 9G, etc..., or finding a solution to Nandez and all that while keeping our book under control.
Instead, selling Hakimi and Lukaku gave him an easy way out. He could terminate 9G without a blink and scrap that improvised complicated Nandez deal altogether. Maybe he did well to sell Lukaku for 115m, but it's hard to say how much of it was due to his negotiation skills and how much was Chelsea being Chelsea.
That being said, Marotta's work must not be judged right after it's done. He's never a great scout or salesman to be judged this way. Instead, he always manages to demonstrate his ability to build a cohesive, balanced squad with strong attention to finances (covid excused). It's not coincident that juve's squad keeps getting more and more imbalanced after he left, too many good players competing for a same space while other areas were neglected. Or Ausillio always managed to find some gems, yet our team never manage to strike a balance until he came.
So maybe give it a year, we will see if he's indeed done a good job. Hopefully, the loss in individual qualities will be offset by having better synergy between the players, especially when Inzaghi never puts extreme emphasis on counter attack with long balls and speed.
