Thanks Karim, but that was awfully painful to watch.

Not only is it sad for a young person to lose his life, let alone a promising soccer player, but it's hardest when he has a great character and was down to earth.

I hope Egyptian players like Mido, Ibrahim Saïd etc. learn from him and fix their character.

LOL, man, for real, this is so pathetic it is so laughable.

This was mentioned in the link:

The eligibility criteria for selecting the best player of Asia has undergone a major and scientific revision, and the winner will be chosen on the basis of a weighted ranking system which takes into account performances at AFC tournaments, and key UEFA and FIFA tournaments.

So how many of those mentioned did well in any UEFA or FIFA competition? And how many of those guys have actually played in WC06? If I am not mistaken, NONE!!! I know Shalhoub was in the squad but sadly his mom was sick and he had to go back.

This is just hilarious.

Lazio eye Egyptian ‘keeper Wednesday 7 February, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Egyptian goalkeeper Mohammed Abdul-Monsef has revealed he will have a trial with Lazio next month.

The Zamalek shot-stopper was set to travel to the peninsula this week following an invitation through an Italian agent, but was forced to delay his visit because of club commitments.

The 30-year-old was also expected to play in tonight’s international friendly with Sweden, but he’s been omitted from the side.

“I was a starter with Zamalek over the past year and I wanted to go to Lazio straight from the national team camp," said Abdul-Monsef to FilGoal.com.

“I was hoping the Coach would back me as Lazio’s interest in me came initially because of my international profile,” added the player.

Abdul-Monsef made his international debut under former Coach Mahmoud Al-Gohari in 1999 and has been a regular ever since, winning the African Cup of Nations in 2006 on home soil.

Italian football has welcomed Egyptian players in the past after the arrivals of Hazem Emam, Ahmed Hossam Mido and Hani Saied over the last decade.

:dazed:
First of all, he isn't as good as he claims, and the keeper who has been the regular starter of the Egyptian National Team was Essam Al Hadary and NOT Abd Al Monsef, Abd Al Monsef is actually the third choise goalkeeper of Egyptian National Team not the regular, and he is not even included in this match against Sweden

Like the french say plus ça change, pluse c'est la même chose! The FA will never chang its mentality, they alway talk about the new direction etc. but it's still the same thing at the end.

I actually liked Paqueta since he understood the players better. But the loss in the Gulf cup pissed off some people and it seems like in-fighting between players is back.

There was a rumor that the captain (Abdel Gheni) had a fight with Kahtani and that's why he played the first game but missed the rest of the tournament. The FA dendied it and said he was out because he tore his ACL. However, two weeks later, he was lifting a local cup with his team!

I see your on top of things there....but no suprize there....the only suprize was that he wasnt fired right after the gulf cup...because that wud be the normal reaction.

who is the best player on middle east?

Well, it's a very wide region

In North Africa you have Abo Trika, Zidan, Dos Santos, Ahmed hassan, Tarek El tayeb, etc..

In Gulf you have Yassir Al Kahtani, Samy El Jaber

In Iran there is Karimi, Nekonam and such

Yassir Al Kahtani, Samy El Jaber

WHAT????? What year are we talking about here?

In Gulf, I'd say it's Kahtani, Shalhoub, Noor and Ismail Mattar.

Well, time to revive this thread

Mido: 3 goals in 4 premier league games, the lad is starting to find his feet after losing 14-15 kilos in Egypt in the sumer and he is paying dividents

Mohamed Zidan: A poor start to the season with is new club Dortmound and now injuried in the ribs for a few weeks, scored one goal in a friendly

Amr Zaki: on loan from Zamalek, he is on fire in his maiden season in Europe, 4 goals in 4 premier league matches, with a couple more during friendlies. He is the only 100% match-goal ratio in the premier league with most goals, great siging by Wigan.
