Because we need to win 5 matches vs the likes of roma/Napoli/lazio and atalanta while juve just needs to win 3 vs cagliari, udine and samp. Even if they don't Roma will give them a free win in the last match if needed

In all honesty, it was over when we lost to Juventus before lock down. Ever since then, we have just been playing catch up and playing for own pride.

Yeah I agree that's difficult (almost impossible), but if there's still chance, we should aim for it.
If some miracle happen and Lazio beat Juve and we defeat Roma next round, the gap will be only 3 pts.

We need to fire on all cylinders. If we keep winning, it's one slip up for Juve and they are fucking panicking.

Though gotta admit they need to lose and draw while we need to win everything. So it is such a reach indeed because of that tie breaker deficit we have on them.

Yeah we need them to drop points on another 3 occasions, one of those being a loss, while we also beat Atalanta, Roma and Napoli. It’s not happening, but I do want us to be right there till the end.

Why does everyone think we're facing Lazio? We have played both games against them. Our remaining matches are Roma, Fiorentina, Genoa, Napoli, Atalanta.

I’d take Lazio with their current form over having to face atalanta :trollol:

As people have said before, we aren’t winning all of our last 5 games. I think the most we can hope for is 3 wins from 5 games.

For me, it’s trying not to finish 4th place as that is completely possible.

Europa League matters and needs to be prioritized because if we win that competition, we're Pot 1 next season. Could go a long ways towards possibly avoiding another Group of Death next season (although, you know, knowing our luck...). At a minimum, it would show we can go toe-to-toe with top teams in Europe and come out on the winning end, certainly a confidence booster that this team sorely needs.

Point being, it needs to be taken seriously. No excuses. If we lose to a good team and just didn't have the luck on our side that day, it's something I can live with. If we lose playing like cowards, then that's another story.

if we ended up in pot 1 and didnt at least make the knock out stages, i'd be shocked.

But theres no prioritising now - its not like we're playing league then Europa then league matches. We've just gotta give it our all. I would NOT BET on winning the Europa league - lots of other teams are gonna be dependent on it for CL, Man Utd being a great example. Roma another. Leverkusen.

We need to try to win all the remaining games. If we do win, it's a mentality boost, players can get motivated to win the scudetto in the next season.

The only way we are beating Atalanta is if the game is announced so late, that Atlanta's form runs ice cold. I believe we can get something out of the Roma and Napoli games, but the margin for error doesn't favor us.

Juve doesn’t lose. The refs won’t let theM. We need them to tie 5 games :)

And we need to be perfect in the next 5 games against 3 of the best teams in the league.

Tho I can see us beating the good 3 teams and losing or tying the other 2 games :)

I think the scudetto is almost impossible at this stage. Gaining 7 points on Juve with 15 points in play is extremely unlikely.

I think we have to worry about the opposite. I expected Inter to crash during this hectic schedule (due to Conte's tiring style and the lack of bench strength + injuries). We have done better than I expected, even if we threw away 7 points. But I still smell a crash ahead. IMO it would be a miracle if we finish 2nd. Most likely, we will finish 3rd and only coz Lazio are facing similar issues.

How have we done better than expected? We're 2nd and we beat the worst teams in the league comprehensively (brescia and SPAL), beat torino (15th) easily and struggled in all the others.

Better than expected will be running the table from now til the end of the season.

And failed to beat rivals competing for European spots. So far Inter’s record vs the bigger clubs i.e top 6 is poor. Aside from Milan, Inter has lost to Juve twice, Lazio (when competing against them for top spot), failed to beat Roma, lucky not to lose vs Atalanta. Against Napoli over 3 games is one win, one draw , and one loss.

If your following spurs than you should know that since Mourinho took over at Spurs in mid November he is only behind Klopp and Guardiola in terms of wins. His 12 wins is only behind Guardiola’s 16 and Klopps 19. This stat gets more impressive considering he managed spurs for ~3 months less than his direct rivals.

Perception vs reality

We'll see how he fares next whole season in Premier and Europa League (if he even manages to get Spurs there).

Jube is getting weaker too. They are 10 points less than themselves at this stage of the season and we still have the hardest schedule left.

Idk if its just me but final standing should be the indicator and not points collected because theres so many parameters affecting the number of points but what matters in the end is where your stand is by the end of the season.

well, thats true - but if juve are worse than last season and we are better than last season, that's a really good sign.

I agree though, finishing 5th with 95 points doesnt really feel like anything to write home about. But short of ridiculous seasons, like when Liverpool finished second with 89 points or whatever, itts still noteworthy. We've done a pretty good job, comnsidering we've had two major dips in forms so far. Hopefuly we get through the restt of the season intact.

Well yeah you have a point there brakbrak. Because us being 2nd is not a great accomplishment. It's a good accomplishment. It's an expected accomplishment because Napoli who was the designated 2nd spot before the season self-destructed at the first part of the season. We were the 3rd and became the obvious candidate for 2nd after that.

Let's try to somehow keep that position. Still getting +10p is a good job from previous season, it means we are progressing in some way and the investments made were not disastrous but were for the right direction (if one wants to find this positive angle).

EL is then completely different matter, and after the bracket draw, a final spot will make it sufficient performance. Anything below that is simply a disappointment.
