I have a bad feeling Conte won't take it lightly if he can't reach the targets next season. I wouldn't sack him unless there's indeed a fallout with the players a la Spalletti, but I feel sack/resigning might happen if we fail again.

As the situation at Chelsea showed, Conte isn't going to resign if things go south. He will constantly complain to the media, he will create such a drama that he will practically beg management to fire him and in the end he will get every single cent from his contract. Let's hope next season is a successful one else things could become very ugly.

Why? Inzaghi earned like, literally, 10x LESS than conte. Do you really compare players at different levels using the exact same output? Do you expect the same performance level from bastoni as you would deV or Godin?

I compare the first season of coaches because it's not fair to compare a coach working with a team for 3-4 seasons to a coach having his first season. I have never compared players thou.

But Inzaghi's first season and Conte's first season are not even remotely comparable. The season targets and expectations are completely different. The means to get the season targets are different. It doesn't make ANY sense to do such comparisons so why would you do such comparisons?

I think a comparison of coaches and season targets is a ridiculous exercise. How can you compare coaches and season numbers when each club and the expectations associated with them are different? How much weight do you give to an environment that allows a coach to work in peace as opposed to an environment like Inter's which is manic? Do you give credit to Conte for working in such an environment? Or extra credit to Lazio's management for spending nowhere near as much as Inter and still being competitive and one of Juventus' main contenders for the Scudetto. Or what about Atalanta where there are zero expectations but they are out there mixing it with the big boys while Inter have a ten year history of being uncompetitive and shitting the bed when they are meant to get a result. How do you value the baggage that comes with coaching Inter? There are way too many variables for comparisons between coaches to be anything but speculative at best.

And please stop with the Pep and Klopp comparisons. Forgetting trophies won etc, Conte is not in the same league as them with respect to tactical acumen. He's just not.

I see people have gone crazy now, why dont you guys start telling me about how good Spalletti is again.

Hes not leaving anytime soon despite his less than mediocre season (so far anyway), he is too much of a financial burden if let go.

Our priority should be a Gazidis type of manager. Change should start at the top.

I've been avoiding my beloved FIF (and football in general) like the plague since that fucking Bologna match but I signed in explicitly to say this is the biggest troll post I have ever seen in my 10+ years on this forum.

Gazidis? Is there another Gazidis in football? :yao: Because you can't be talking about Ivan Gazidis, right? The guy unanimously and utterly deplored by Arsenal fans? Hated for his massive role in running that club on a budget too tight to compete and thus turning the club into a Europa Leauge joke? The same Gazidis who is doing the exact same thing at Milan to bandage their financial hemorrhaging and is now unanimously despised by Milan fans? You want that fucking Gazidis in charge of our club?

Gazidis is doing what the owners tell him to do. Did that at Arsenal and is doing that at Milan. Another discussion is the results but it's not HIS decision anywhere how much money is used to the club operation.

i mean kinda yes and no right

if you're a CEO who only ever gets brought in to cut costs and save a business from bankruptcy, you're unlikely to ever get the chance to run a start up in growth mode, and you're unlikely to be very good at running a start up in growth mode either tbf

How are you rating this season other than mediocre? Your standing is what matters the most.

Would not qualifying for CL be enough to convince people who want Conte to stay that Inter made a mistake by hiring Conte?

Yeah, CL is already wrapped mostly because of favorable results early on against the lower level teams. We're making up for that anomaly in recent weeks.

we are 15 points clear with 7 games left and 1 game in hand - so milan have a total of 21 points to play for, we have 24 to play for. We need 7 points to be assured of CL qualification.

We need 9. Roma and Napoli are playing tonight. If even one of them wins, we'll need nine.

It would be enough for me, but it's a highly unlikely scenario, so much so that it's a purely speculative question, unless we lose the next 3 or 4 games.

Only the genoa inter match seems to be winnable. In the other remaining matches Inter will most likely leak points.

We have Torino and SPAL too. IMO these three are instant wins. But obviously if that's the amount of wins we're gathering for the rest of the season, it's like a failure for itself and almost ruins the whole season. If Conte gets 80 points, at least he can say he got clearly a better outcome than his predecessor (72p and 69p). I really hope we can get at least 80 points.
