The point is still pretty much spot on, one year for Brozovic doesn't change that. Our core is not from the banter era at all. Our core is from the Spalletti era or Conte era.

It doesn't change anything and I actually agree with him. Just to be exact.

Many members didn’t like my comments about Conte. You saw for yourselves. Is this the work of a logical human being, let alone an 11 m coach?

it's in my nature to try and see the positive even in the worst moments, so i'll write this: maybe in the long run it's best that we show all our limitations (and repeatedly) when only a second or third spot is at stake, so the coach realizes the full import of our problems and can work on them before a title is at stake.

i'm not excusing conte, by any means. but maybe he needed to be slapped by reality multiple times in order to realize how bad we are.

And hopefully he takes notes from Bologna match. Earlier substitutions could have changed our game too.

It doesn’t appear Conte is as much of a tactician as Mourinho , Allegri , etc., i.e he lacks the ability to recognize opponents weakness and exploit it or mitigate the weakness of his team at key intervals during the game.

Conte as is often discussed by previous and current players is a excellent at man management - getting his players to give their best.

We all just have to except that he lacks that intuition to make the right tactical changes. Like subbing Bastoni earlier to avoid a second yellow or feeling out the game.

It amazes me that during these strange times where a team is allowed 5 substitutions, Conte still waits so fuckin long to make a change !

He made 4 of the 5 substitutions after the 85th minute, when we were down by a goal. Amazing.

Well, as a player he couldn't pass, shoot, dribble, he was effectively a Gagliardini on steroids, possibly literally, running all over the place, getting to dangerous with little effect, tackling everyone and getting away with fouls and the only thing he was great at was recovering the ball, his positioning wasn't great but he had good awareness. There's a reason why his coaching philosophy is based on running a lot.

I have a feeling he won’t be at Inter in January 2021 but I hope when he is fired Marotta gets the boot as well.

Coaches like Spalletti and Conte expect things to take care of themselves because they are lazy
and more impotantly they don’t want oto be blamed for not subbing on the most appropriate players.

Hahahaha ya I agree with you theres no way we are firing him.

I know we disagree about why that is (probably), but just to make my stance clear, I'm not saying he should be there no matter what happens. If some disaster happens next year, I think he would be gone. It's just that I cannot imagine scenario where we say... are out of CL spot next season which would cost his head I think. And if it happens to be that the improvements will not come, Marotta will find someone new and rightly so.

You are giving Conte way too much the benefit of the benefit of the doubt. He didn't react at all to that triple substitution Miha made after the missed penalty. That is what changed the game eventually. Bologna had chances and pressure and this guy did nothing. He said he had the Sanchez sub coming in but Bologna scored first. Well, that was 10mins after that triple sub by Miha. Miha took the opportunity when we failed penalty. Opponent is a bit down, let's go all in on them with some fresh legs. Conte should have reacted to that, maybe change Valero in for Gags in addition to that Eriksen Sanchez sub to bring some stability.

Yes odds are for us and we've probably won 9/10 but that's not how football is played. It's played on the pitch and more precisely, in the moment! You need to react when shit happens in the pitch and not wait for subs to the minutes you've planned to make them.

I haven't criticized Conte too much with his sub game generally, but IMO in this match it was crucial mistake.
I am of different opinion towards the subs. The goals came in 74' and 80'. He made a sub in 75' right after the goal and then double sub in 85' and then another 2 at 88'. There were games under spal for example, where we didn't do subs for a long long time after a goal was conceded, or something bad started to happen. In the end, if those subs were done at the time and we still had lost, it wouldn't matter and Conte would still be hit with the loss.

I put bigger onus on the fact of how much chances our players had and how they failed to convert and control the match rather than on the subs done 5 minutes too late. Bologna players were so fired up for those 2 goals then I don't think it would have mattered to be honest at that time and they would still have those chances. And again, 9 other times they wouldn't convert those and we would finish with 3 pts.

I'm giving Conte benefit of a doubt because I value him as a great coach, and I'm far from throwing him under the bus in his first season in the circumstance we had, where we sit comfortable in 3rd place (could have been 2nd with a bit of luck). I didn't expect us to do wonders this season anyways (would be great, but didn't happen), but the first part of the season, with the way we played a half against Barca and Borussia gave us glimpses of where we can be. If things will turn bad or stale next season I might be closer to your opinion.

Maybe I'm splitting your hairs a bit here, but one point ahead of scorching-hot Atalanta isn't really "comfortable" third place. And it would be embarrassing to end the season as only the second-best Nerazzurri team in Italy for the second straight season (and third time in four seasons).

Luka, Spalletti has nothing to do with this conversation.

I'm saying Conte should react when the team is tired / lack of energy / needs a boost / whatnot. 5 minutes can mean a world in these matches. Miha 3 subs to give boost, Conte does nothing. 10 minutes and they score. I don't see this as a coincidence and some random luck / low-percentage stuff. Bologna got energy from having 3 fresh pair of legs out there.

IMO Conte should anyway do subs earlier because they are playing at 30 celsius degrees heat out there and our playing style is pretty demanding energyconsumption-wise. He has +2 extra subs so I don't really understand sometimes what is the idea of holding the subs.

Wasting chances is one thing, but once they are wasted, they are gone. The chance is gone and game goes on. What happens next is important. How do you react? Do you do some subs when it seems we are not in good control of the match? Do you wait to the minute when you've planned to do the subs?

No one is throwing Conte under the bus for this first season and that's not even the point. I talked about specific stuff happening during the matches and how Conte should do better during the matches. How he should react to events in matches and the general situation of the specific match. Bologna was better in the second half and Conte played with the same players for half an hour before doing anything, that's over half of the second half. This might be nit-picking but football at the highest level is out small details. Margins are super small. You gotta read the game to turn things around if it doesn't look good.

I don't know how you guys can blame Conte, I think I am siding with the folks who think the players are not laying their hearts out.

Not sure if it's legally ok to sign contracts full of fines regarding complacency, but it seems like it's the only way to make sure these cunts are getting their shits together all the time.

I wonder what people think makes Conte such a great coach they claim he is.

People complain about why Conte didn't make any subs. Against Sassuolo people complained why Conte had made particular subs. After every negative result, people complaining about subs because it's easy to criticize when the game is over.
Miha made 3 subs one of which was 38 years old Palacio. They were 10 people and we had total control of the match. I don't buy cheap talks that our players were so tired as Conte gave them proper rotation so far. Only Gagliardini and Bastoni had some games in a row but as far as remember the first one was subbed against Brescia and the latter had rested against Parma. With one extra man on the pitch, we could have easily control the game and make Bologna players "died" from chasing the ball. So, this complaint of yours that was so hot and our players were so tired and Bologna's were so fresh because of subs ( 38 years old Placio lol), reminds me of Mazzari's complaining about the rain.
It was more like our second half against Barca away or second half against Borussia away. For some reason, we stop playing our football and only watching how the opponent takes over control of the game without any resistance. It's not for the first time and most probably won't be for last. Conte's job is to resolve this.

love the notion that changing coach and giving him 6 months, including a 3 month interruption because of a pandemic, is meant to fix problems that has plagued this team for a decade.

It took the world's best coach one failed year to wrap his head around Pazza Inter and set us up correctly to win, and that was with an expensive squad of players at their absolute peak. We're putting similar (not the exact same) pressure on Conte, but giving him a bunch of 22 year olds to do it with.

We're building an Inter to succeed over the course of the next decade, not just one year.

I think we lost the 2nd halves against barca and Dortmund because of tiredness while against bologna we lost due to complacency and lack of motivation, discipline...

Maybe the people complaining now were not the same to the people complaining after Sassuolo. Why can't 38 years old Palacio be fresh? At least he contributed by assisting the winning goal.

I'd say it's more credible explanation that we weren't top notch anymore and lacked energy compared to Bologna with their 3 guys from the bench than some obscure "we stopped playing for some reason like we did against Barcelona and Dortmund".

Whatever it is, we agree that it's Conte's job to resolve this one way or another.

How fresh Palacio could be? Do you remember last season when he was here, how people complaining that he is finished? Few years have passed since then and he definitely got worst. I repeating myself but with one man more, we should have been able to control the game much easier. It looked like Bologna is with 11 players and we are with 10 instead. For me, the tiredness couldn't be the reasonable explanation here as I've said before Conte gave enough rotation to the squad and Bologna's players should have been more exhausted than ours.
We have those "blackouts" even before Conte's arrival. Almost every game when we get the lead, the team immediately left the initiative to the other team and "stop playing". This is pretty similar to Inter's "winter syndrome" every season, regardless of the coach.
That why I'm saying Conte's job is to turn the tables. Personally, I hopped that Conte will bring his "winning/ never-give-up" mentality to the players, and till now this hardly has any effect. For his first season, it's acceptable but if continues happen throughout next season would be very disturbing sign.
