Ofc, this and Samurai Champloo are basically amongst best gateway animes out there. It's kinda what you think anime is mixed with a lot of western type of dialogue and setting.
I've been watching Bakuman, a story about two aspiring mangakas. It's pretty well done, except the main love plot is a bit convoluted. If anybody wants to know how Mangas are done, this is for you.
Recently I've read Haikyuu and thankfully it finished during my life time, great manga and one of the best sports wise. I also read Blame of the Immortal because of the anime that aired a few months back. When I started watching I wasn't that into it and the pacing was weird (later I found out that the anime adaptation coverd 200+ chapters in 24 episodes!) but I think around EP 15 I thought the original work could be decent and read the manga from the start, great decision it was becasue I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's a highly acclaimed manga anyway, lots of violence and gore fyi.
The good thing about older manga/anime is that you can binge watch/read them and not wait every week for a new episode/chapter.
Though there are long running series which have literally have been around for decades, like One Piece (which isn't even the series on the longest run) since '97.
you guys should watch hunter x hunter or Samurai Champloo. Highly recommend
Berserk, 1997 version. (or you could watch the movie trilogy, but I'd rather you watch the anime).
Is there anyone with anime suggestions? I just finished Champloooo
Especially if you know any good anime that maybe hasn't become as popular as other. The reason I ask this is because its a higher chance that I would not have seen it. I stay away from comedy and drama anime.
Berserk is quite popular though
I'm not much of an anime guy. About a year ago I decided to give it a shot and started to watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. I thought the first 10-12 episodes were great but after that it turned into a complete snoozefest.
Admittedly I haven't finished it to this day, I'm still missing about 15 episodes, but nevertheless I plan on finishing it.

Psycho Pass is worth if you missed it. (although the second season is not so good)
Darker than black (same applies for the second season)
Actually it seems that Psycho Pass has third season. I've missed it. Have to see it.
i'm a fan of Golgo 13, an anime about an exceptionally skilled hit man. no comedy, no drama, just a man who happens to make a living killing people.
