Could be that Trubin even preferred Benfica as there's still CL football (visibility) available, and most of all, a potential starting role. Unlike at Inter.

Also keep in mind this is normal course of business for teams like Benfica and Porto. They often don’t own 100% of the rights on many of the South American talents they sign. They are designed to be a showcase and they will sell for top dollar, see Enzo Fernandez.

Good point. We couldn't fetch a big fee for him since he wouldn't be a clear cut starter for 2 years.

Sale on clause usually only applies to the profit, but anyway, the difference would be minimal ($4m in this case) since the transfer price is quite low.
