At least one Inter player did us proud this week.
“There’s an economic difference between being in the Champions League and the Europa League,” Thohir told Il Corriere dello Sport. “If you’re in the CL, your salaries can be raised because you have greater revenue.
“If you’re not in there, you can’t spend as much. Right now we spend about €80m yearly on the salaries, and I believe that’s going to stay more or less the same, in spite of a few slight amendments.
“We’re compelled to respect certain parameters, what with the Financial Fair Play rules and the agreement we signed with UEFA.
“Sure, we could raise the salaries to a €130m limit, spend more on the signings than we make from the sales, and I’m sure that would make the fans happy – myself included, because I am an Inter fan.
“But what would happen to us should we end up second in the standings without following the UEFA rules? We wouldn’t play the Champions League, nor the Europa League.
“That’s why respecting the FFP is mandatory. We must keep the salary cap where it is, and reach a balance between sales and signings that will give us a revenue of €50m over the next transfer window.”
Telles, Rolando and Poli are few players I regret Inter not having signed - who didn't sound expensive, unlike in the case of Rafinha (but Nainggolan's purchase hasn't really helped this case either).
It wasn't Mancini's decision though. It was Thohir's. Mancini simply stopped playing Telles when he realised we weren't going to take up his option. Thohir's brilliant plan for the following season was free agents and "smart purchases". And this was the main reason we had signed Banega, Erkin and Ansaldi before June. Ausilio knew he didn't have much money to spend so he had to be quick. This is what Thohir had said on May 2016:
We could be having Telles as LB and Cancelo as RB right now, but instead we have Asamoah/Dalbert and D'Ambrosio/Cedric due to some smartass management decisions.
Take a breath and think about that for a minute.

but duhhh cancelo can't defend duhhh
Rolando and Poli were nothing special but definitely should've been signed as squad players. They were better than the likes of Kuzmanovic, Gargano, Murillo, Vidic, Campagnaro etc and they would've saved us a lot of money.
at that point, at least Telles, was one of our best players
not signing him was idiotic

That excuse is hardly convincing, buddy. Ansaldi was far from free. The cost was Laxalt AND 7m. That money was just enough to redeem Telles. We simply didnt trust Telles and thought Ansaldi+Erkin were better.Do you just read what you want to read? Il Drago answered your complaint, just change Mancini for Thohir
