Adriano: “Ibrahimovic is fantastic, I am very proud of what I did at Inter”

Adriano Leite Ribeiro, nicknamed Imperatore by the Inter faithful never really fulfilled his potential at Inter or anywhere as Javier Zanetti, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and many others have commented on recently, mainly due to personal problems. FcInternews caught up with the Brazilian striker to see how he’s doing today and much more in an exclusive interview.

First of all how are you doing? What are you occupying yourself with these days?
“I am doing very well thank you. I have my activities in Brazil, business.”

Do you still follow the Serie A? Do you support Inter?
“Yeah for sure. To this day when I hear the chant the Curva dedicated to me I am filled with emotion.”

How do you remember your time at Inter?
“I have a lot of beautiful memories. The fans, my team-mates, I don’t know what to say there are so many memories.”

You are still the player that has scored the most goals in the Champions League for Inter. Do you regret leaving Inter just before the treble was won?
“I had a great time at Inter and I’m proud of it.”

Many argue that you could have won the Ballon d’Or. Zlatan Ibrahimovic said that you are the best player that he has ever played with. What went wrong?
“I want to onyl say that Ibra is a great. It was wonderful to play with him. I want to take this occasion to thank him for his beautiful words that he has said about me. Zlatan is always in my prayers and i also want to thank everyone who follows me. God is with you all.”

Glad he has some business now, hopefully it's not something illegal..

Our boy Adriano made headlines again.

Rio de Janeiro has been in a state of war in the past few days, with several important streets and tunnels closed due to intense conflict between drug gangs. The Army will be deployed shortly to try to put an end to this.

So guess who's a friend of the drug dealer behind the conflict and has been seen next to him? Yup.

Not saying he's secretly a drug lord or anything - he's too instable for that line of work -, but God, does he have a bad taste for friends. These kind of fuckers are probably the same ones who leeched on him instead of supporting him when he was coping with the loss of his father.

If I am not mistaken, he also said something along the lines of: "i'll take photos with whomever I want". That's what gazzetta.it reports

Adriano is getting out of retirement
He scored one nice goal, IN CHARITY GAME with long time retired players, and he thinks he can play again :notbad:
Reminds me a lot of myself when i play in Over-30 leagues :)

Man, brazilians a weird bunch. Like Adriano, he says this guy is in my prayers and t he paragraph before he says he has "business" and hangs out with people that are no bueno. I have this colleague of mine dude is the most christian religious guy, he wants to become a priest and he is kind of like adriano

Might be controversial, but I think Adriano is actually a bit overrated.

I mean... he never ever scored 20 Serie A goals during the golden days & has done it once in all comps.

The tragic death of his father + nostalgia is why Adriano tends to be overglorified.

Stats don't tell the whole story, even if his stats weren't too shabby. Maybe it's because I was an impressionable teenager during his peak, but watching him play during those years was like watching a tremendous force of nature.

Also, I don't think he's overrated because most agree that he never reached his full potential. His rise was meteoric and then suddenly halted by the death of his father. That's bound to leave a taste of regret and what-could-have-been in those of us who were rooting for him.

Stats don't tell the whole story. I've watched every single minute for Adriano with Inter. He was an entire team in one player. He had the potential to surpass Maradona, Pele and the two Ronaldo's. He's never reached his potential and could've developed into a freak of nature. Not even Ibrahimovic was as complete as Adriano. Too bad that he's lasted for a very short period of time.

I agree... He had it all, more than anyone else. Except a working head.

I don't get how much love this guy still get. He had the talent to be the best in the world but threw it all away for booze and partying (don't give me bullshit about his dead father, it doesn't excuse him to behave like an unprofessional cunt for so long while stealing a living). Moratti treated him like a son but Adri returned fuck all and pretend to retire from football only to sign for a Brazilian club days later leaving us with nothing and 30m+wages down the drain. Let's not mention joining Roma who was a serious rival at that time.

I don't hate him but 2-3 good years isn't worth the love this guy should getting. At best, he was unprofessional and at worst, he's a conman.

It ain't love that people have for him. It's more like a pity. Not a pity because of his father history but a pity because he lost his brain.

I suppose people left wondering about how he could end up if he had his brain intact.

Adriano hit form just before and the season after his father died. If his father died several years later I have no doubt he would have clocked 20/25 goals a season for the entire time.

He was a pure joy to watch but now I wonder how long will it take before he wastes all he earned as a player and reaches rock bottom. Not that I hope such a thing of course but I have a feeling it's going to happen
