He remind me Cancelo. His position, gesture, speed, skill and technique.

Of course the mentality. I remember Cancelo was bad in early season, then explode.

He's very different to Cancelo.

Cancelo has crazy dribbling skills, is very "talkative" with the ball, doesn't do much in defense and tactically he's not really adept. He's not really fast either, but he has better passing, crossing etc.

Hakimi on the other hand isn't super technical or anything, he's just super fast. He's more tactically aware and is better defensively, both in terms of marking and in terms of positioning. But once you're way up there in attack, it's easy to just not be in position when the opposition is in transition.

The only thing they have in common is that both would love to own the entire flank, provided that someone is able to cover their asses defensively.

Conte on Hakimi:

"I don’t like talking about individuals. Go back and watch what I said when Achraf arrived: he has great potential but needs to work on the defensive side of things. Let’s not forget that there are greater pressures, expectations and demands in Serie A compared to the Bundesliga or the Premier League. He has potential and needs to put in the hard work, all the while remaining aware that the pressure here is completely different compared to Germany.”

Or maybe Conte can instruct his midfield to provide through balls for Hakimi instead of using him as a fucking regista

I am afraid he is just one season player. It is still too early to judge him but if he has the skills he would have displayed many of them.

You cannot expect brilliance when your team is static as hell. Indeed Hakimi has been below average over the past few matches, but his quality is undeniable. I mean, I cannot take seriously people who put Darmian in the list ahead of Hakimi lol.

The guy has shown that he's class, and if only he gets a little bit of support when it comes to teammates movements and get themselves to free position, then he is gonna deliver.

We are extremely painful to watch, so the blame is all on the coach. And when an incompetent coach is on charge of the team, for sure the players will struggle and positive results will be missing.

I have no idea if this means he has already given up on him and he is just preparing us, and/or his alibi, for the inevitable benching of a top signing or is he genuinely, in good faith, going to work on him. My bet it's the former.

Ffs one good game by Darmian (tbh great professional kudos) and he's already making statements like this. As if Boga didn't school our whole defense whenever he wanted.

He shouldn't talk to media until after at least 10 good games.

I'm not worried about Hakimi. He has a proven track record at the highest level already at 22. Give him some time to adjust and some faith and he could reasonably be in the discussion for best overall RB/RWB in 2-3 seasons.

Defending is something that can be taught. The gifts he has cannot. The most stupid thing we could do is give up on him.

I'm obviously supremely disappointed with how he's performed recently, he was my most wanted signing, but let's be clear. He's literally our most used wingback this season, no one is giving up on anybody here.

Barella took a while to get into the team's motions last year, it's fine for Hakimi to also take some time.

We've been replying on him too much because our midfield hasn't been able to meaningfully contribute to the attack. If Sensi was fit it would make a world of difference.
