Fuck off with that 20m for Arnautovic. He is 34 ffs, you can't just sign any striker and call it a job done. Morata could've been signed for the same money and is 4 years younger at least.
Morata was definitely the best option. He has more CL experience under his belt and is younger than both Taremi and Arnautovic. Now if we decide to go for him, Atletico is probably going to ask for €30-40m.

MarcoBovicelli - Arnautovic could close at Inter for an amount close to 10M€, including bonuses".

it would be second highest transfer value for player over 34 years in the history:

the first is Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United for 17 mln euro.

btw, for some reason Sommer is not on the list. He should be second (above Songo). So we are almost breaking transfer records guys.

Lewadowski joined Barca 1 week before he turned 34 for 50m. We bought Acerbi for 4m.

There also must be something wrong about that list when all other transfer were from early 2000s and before.

Bologna rejected €8 million + Sensi
because they're dumb. an injuryprone sensi worth double than arnautovic+ from that 8 million they could have found a proper striker on their level. its not Aug 30th... mercato is still open for 3 weeks.

this offer was ridicoulously high from our side.

Let's face it - nobody cares about Coppas and Supercoppas. Nobody even cares that we were lucky enough to participate in the CL final. We had no chance.

I know what you are saying, but for THE PLAYERS it's very important that they get to win something and to go as far as they can in every competition. That's how you build a winning mentality, players get used to winning games and HOW to win games. Would be lovely to see Inzaghi replicate that to at least one Serie A trophy too, but overall, if you don't have a winning mentality, you probably also won't reach CL spots and will lose out on a lot of money that the club really needs.

Thumbs up on the whole post tho.

The sad reality is that there isn't any realistic name, under 30 years, that scores ~20 goals a season for the price of ~35m.

If I think more about our situation, we were more than happy to pay 30/40m for Lakaka, who is a "30 year old striker", so maybe 25/30m for Taremi isn't that crazy, but it's a bit worrisome the fact he hasn't played in a big league... I can't turn a blind eye to that, and crucify Balogun for the same reason :D

Idk I'm just a guy who willingly let's a club decide his mood for the next 10 months.

Every year.

För the last 27/8 years.
There is one guy...

Elye Wahi (20yo)

But he's a sex pest with other issues

Hard pass if it is more than 8M.

Maybe give them Lazzaro and Edy Salcedo too

From Mbappe rumour to buying 34 years old trash Arnautović. Inter is coming.

haha to those who believe Mbappe was coming. Only way that happens is we gave him the Messi deal. Hey come to Inter and you are now part owner of the team/potentially league

Arnautovic is literally the only rumour that has absolutely no redeeming features. And of course he is the one we will get. Sickening.

Missing 111 days last season through five different injuries at 34 should be the biggest red flag in the history of football transfers. At 15-20m it’s a twisted joke.

I suggested Arnautovic last year, but I wasn't expecting a high fee, given the transfer history of 33+ normally cost.
Getting 34-year-olds for 20-30M... trying to compete right now. Yeah, it might work for a couple more years, but we can't build on that. Getting 4-5 young players, like Samardzic, that we can sell two or three of them for massive profit in a few years is the way to go. Trust me, it pains me to I have to look at it this way, but this is the situation we're in right now. Hell, the reason we're afloat so far is that we've sold our best young players. Hakimi, could've actually sold Skriniar, Onana. And next year, yeah, probably we'll have to sell Lautaro, Bastoni, or Barella.

This is why I was a fan of getting someone like Balogun. If he flops, yeah, he has no resale value. But does Taremi or Arnautovic, who are marginally cheaper? If he booms, we have an 80M player on our hands. Rinse and repeat. Maybe once in a blue moon, we can have a good run in the CL and actually try to win it when the stars align, and we've somehow kept a decent core.
The thing is you also don't want the whole squad fills with "young talents", it won't work, and they will failed together.

For your Balogun, example, it is not just no resale value, think Vencino, Gags, Correa.
For Taremi, think Acerbi, Damian, Dzeko etc.

You get the point.

I think so far each department has a good balance of experienced and young, and that is what we should aim for.

I think this might not be a bad idea after all, even it is higher than I want to pay for.

Just because everyone here hates the idea of Arnautovic, he will end up here.

#7
Don't think the majority hates the idea of him. Just that absurd transfer fee + contract.

For 5m it's a good deal as back up for Thuram.

I'd much rather have Balogun for 40 if I see the numbers for Arnautovic
