Massively downgrading in goal, defense is no better if not worse, midfield loses its rock, lose our most dynamic forward up front to Juve of all teams. Awesome summer. I realize Balogun is a risk but man the team as is just ain’t any better than last year and imo is worse. Morata is a nothing player. Balogun represented some hope for next year. Signing Morata just puts all the pressure on Thuram to be a stud because Morata will give you little more than ancient Dzeko did.

If after Cuadrado we also sign Morata as a starter I won’t see a single match of Inter upcoming season. I’m done. Loosing Handa, Skriniar, Brozo and Lukaku and replace them with (Gobbo) trash as Morata and Cuadrado. It’s too much.
Not sure Lukaku should be grouped with someone like Handanovic. Inter did their best to get him and even had an offer accepted. It's Lukaku who decided not to come - in fact, it seems he is the one who chose to negotiate with Juventus so he belong in the second group in your list more than the first one.

I get the disappointment with Morata. Although he's not as bad as a lot of posters make him seem. I think it's more disappointment in going with the non-exciting option and a 31-year old player at that.

I also think Arsenal will want more than 40 million for Balogun which is a lot of money for us.

Beto for 30 million (latest rumour) also seems like a really risky option. I'd trust Morata more than Beto.

If Balogun ends up being too pricy, I guess it's really between Morata and Taremi as they are similar age and similar price.

Morata when Madrid signed him:
"My dream was always to play for Madrid."

Morata when Atletico Madrid signed him:

Of all the names we are linked with, Morata makes the most sense unfortunately. He knows the language, league, and will be ready to go day 1.

I like how our options for attack this summer have been:

1) A declining 30 year old striker who just spent 8 months of the season injured, who apparently didn't even want to be here
2) A career journeyman who clubs have paid a cumulative amount of 180M of transfer fees for in his career that is incapable of scoring goals
3) A 50M priced wunderkind who has never played in a top four league

i have zero idea who would be the best option.

I honestly don't care how talented Balogun is. I don't want us to do any deal that involves that sum for a player who's had his first good season in L1. Got as many goals as Dia without pens and they want 50mil lmao.

Morata is generally consistent and getting around 12-15 goals per season in addition to a number of assists. As a leading striker, he is underwhelming as he's not a 20+ goal striker that you would rely on. However, as a 2nd/3rd option, 12-15 goals is not a bad return. Keep in mind our second top scorer in Serie A last season was Lukaku with 10 goals. Lukaku and Dzeko had just under 20 goals between them. Morata does have good movement and is an intelligent player. Being in a 2-striker system and not being counted on as the main goal-scorer would suit him better imo.

I'm not defending the management in this choice. I'd much rather we take a 'riskier' and young option but pay more. However, I don't know if rumours about Balogun are true in that 40 million would be enough. Even with 40 million, I can understand the scepticism from management. We're essentially in a situation where we cannot afford to make a 'bad investment'. For Balogun moving from a mid-table French team to Inter would be a big jump that could backfire. Having said that, I still prefer that option, especially as we already have Lautaro and Thuram.

However, I understand the management perspective. Thuram himself is also not a sure thing. If we cannot get rid of Correa, that's another risk as the guy has not shown anything for us so far. From that perspective I can understand that Morata does offer some 'guarantees' to the management. Yes, he won't score 20 goals, but he does have some positives: big-game player, consistently scoring 12-15 goals a season, good movement, etc. He's also not a player than demands a starting position.

The negatives are the fact that it's not a long-term investment while we would give him a big long-term contract. He's also not a player that's going to improve much from what we already know about him. However, if we can't get Balogun, I still think Morata is a better option that guys like Beto or Scamacca imo. Scamacca may have the talent/potential but the guy just spent most of last season injured or not playing and should only be considered as a loan option. Even then, it should be to replace Correa, not to be the 2nd/3rd option.

It seemed that way too, but I guess they are in negotiations for both Morata/Balogun to understand the terms. I highly doubt we get both, unless we manage to offload Correa for a similar fee to buying Morata. Even then, seems improbable.

Okay I’m sorry for posting again but Morata is probably my least favorite player that I’ve ever had who hasn’t directly shit on our club.

I just looked up his stats and come on man. The guys goal and assist count given the games/minutes he’s played and teams he’s played for is atrocious. Lautaro for example is good at many things and great at none. This dude is good at nothing and average at most. Lautaro makes up for it with an all out engine that morata could only dream of.

This is a player that has lived off his Real Madrid reputation for over a decade. He has been mediocre at four elite clubs, wowing absolutely nobody in the process. If his name was John Smith from Wales he’d be playing on a Sassuolo level if that.

Call it an overreaction but I’d rather have anyone else that is possible. Inzaghi wanting him is a classic stubborn Italian decision in the market of taking the aging high profile player with little left to give. That’s why our team is fucking decaying because we keep making that choice. We’re lucky it worked with Darmian and Acerbi because by all accounts it shouldn’t have.

If our budget is 20 million we should’ve just went for Pullisic and at least gotten some marketability and potential out of it. I’m losing my fucking mind I’m sorry for the rant.

Only seen Morata for the Spanish NT, think one season he was dreadful and the other meh. How's his penalty taking? What about some "big guy" to replace Lukaku/Dzeko aspect is that out the window or is that option predicated on Correa leaving?

Morata

Lukaku saves us from ourselves and then we turn around and target this motherfucker.

Can't wait to celebrate the news that Morata is going elsewhere only for us to turn around and target Belotti or some shit

Sheesh Morata? Surely there has to be a better option somewhere in the market. The guy just doesn’t score goals. How many big teams have to buy him sell him before it’s common knowledge?
There is but they lack Serie a XP. So need time to adjust. Which means Limone & Beppe don't like them .

At this point, I'm just gonna wait out and see who we will actually sign. Listening all these rumours is driving me crazy but at least we are 99.9999% not wasting money on that shithead Lukaku.
