Bastoni can absolutely fill in at CB if needed. I actually think it's a position he'll naturally progress to later in his career.
Wera is right, probably we'll be using the wingbacks as auxiliary CBs if there's an injury crisis, so Bisseck won't have to be a sure starter. Thank god.

In any case, Bastoni isn't the most reliable injury-free player himself either. If two of our current CBs get injured, which isn't beyond imagination we'd end up with something like - Augusto / Darmian / Bisseck, which is laughable.

Good point about the number of natural CBs available, but if two CBs got injured we'd still have one of Bastoni/Acerbi/De Vrij available for the middle. If all three are out, we'd be in trouble, but few sides wouldn't.

Edit: As Big Johnny said.

Bisseck was more experienced as deep CB rather than Darmian based on his Aarhus season.

I prefer having a total bully as a central defender, so we will see if we will make Bisseck take that role in about two seasons or if we'll buy somebody when Acerbi and De Vrij leave

hopefully we get Pavard, so that defence would at least be set for this season

It's not about being a bully as much as it is about being a smart bully.

Pavard-Bastoni-Augusto would probably be the most cutting edge modern centreback trio anywhere. Not that I would expect too see that much
To stay and do well in the center you need to have a solid sense of positioning.

Bastoni is young and makes some mistakes in that direction, but he has the potential to do that role in the near future, plus, knowing his ability to verticalize the game.

But I am afraid that in 2 years Mr. Guardiola will knock at our door with 80 mln of good reasons..

In 2 years Bastoni is probably more like a 100m player… especially taken into account that price probably will creep upwards.

But we are naive if we think we can hold onto him, Barella and Martinez sooner rather then later those 3 would want to be on a team on a higher level, a team who has a better shot at championships or at least play in England.

Not much Inter could do in that situation, when Bayern decided to just keep the player.

We have to see which reports are correct. The more recent ones were saying there will be talks tomorrow and there is a 5 million difference. The other report straight out said that Bayern decided to keep Pavard, which doesn't seem to be dependent on Inter's offer but rather Bayern's overall stance. The same report who said Bayern decided to keep Pavard also said we offered 35 million and Bayern want 40 million earlier - I just find it hard to believe we offered 35 million in the first day of negotiations.

What if they decided to keep the player because Inter didn't pay up like 2-3m in difference?

Then he's not coming.
He's not coming cause he would also cost over 30M... Inter is pretty much just fooling us. They find these players that cost just above what they are supposedly willing to pay and then they say how they tried. Just so they can later sign someone on loan, or someone that costs 5-10M.

Balogun, Taremi, Scamacca, Morata... all around 20-35M... and we end up with Arnautovic.
