From what I've seen, Thiago Silva hasn't been Thiago Silva going on 3 years now.

Given the choice of Pepe for free or paying for Thiago Silva + his wages, I'm taking Pepe.

We've bought 31 years old Miranda for 13.5 mln, and he's out best defender for two years. Silva is 32 now and depends of the price set by PSG but anything around 15 mln is a must. And some people here moan about his wage. But if you spend 40 mln for Rudiger for instance, his wage won't be so different than Silva's one.

That's a luxury Brazil can make that most Nts can't. Not being called up for Brazil, Argentina , Germany doesn't mean you suck just means they have a shit ton of options.

When you're an important piece to a national squad, you're there every important match. Neymar, Messi don't stay home cause their squad have that luxury.

Thiago Silva is a declining player who himself admits he's fragile mentally. He was arguably the best defender in the world at one point but those days are long gone. Pepe for free > paying for Thiago Silva. Pepe is older but he can still bring it when the lights are on.
