No comment about how bad our world class midfielder has been?
He was bad only at shooting last night, but overall he was our best midfielder. Running constantly up and down and participating in almost every attack.

Do you have midfielder you actually like? Every comment I see is just about Miki adding nothing to the team or Barella being overrated.

One draw against the club that won it last season and the drama starts. Everything will be okay. And Barella is doing more than okay.

Barella needs to work on his shooting. It was much better last season. Rest is fine.

It’s not his usual strength, one time doesn’t make a summer.. usually his tally is like 2-4 goals a season, and he still could potentially score a couple more to reach that.

He ain’t never going to be the sort of player who will be a frequent goal scorer.

I am not asking him to become a 10+ goal a season mid. All I want is him to put away golden chances.
Cambiasso also didn't score many but he put away big chances. That is what I want from barella.
He has missed too many big chances this season.

Yea, he's kinda like Modrić. If he could just calm the tits down and perform on higher level for longer period of time he could be our Modrić. He has the goods.

I lost all hope for that to happen, he strikes me more as a moody player, in the right mood he is world class, if not he can be one of the worst on our team. I do think he generally been more consistent after Inzaghi took him under his wings, but he still has some notable fallout in performance.

I'm curious to know what qualities Barella possesses that make him world class.

He doesn't have Kroos level passing range, Modric level playmaking, Kimmich level versatility, KDB level shooting, Rodri level solidity, FDJ level ball carrying, Kovacic level press resistance, Pedri level dribbling, Rice level tackling....

Is it his intensity and passion? Endurance? Unfortunately his temperament often gets in his way nullifying these qualities he brings. For example we can't build around a Barella-led midfield in the same vein as Rodri or Kimmich.

At the moment I would say only Rodri and Gundogan are truly world class midfielders and deliver every time.

There are footballers that just exited their prime (KdB..), footballers that still aren't in their prime, Barella on his day is one of the best midfielders in the world, the only thing really missing is consistency

Based on form? Kroos? Bellingham? KDB? I hate to pick on kids but Pedro and Musiala have shown consistency at the highest level last 2-3 seasons. FDJ is definitely world class just needs the right tactical set up to thrive.

Bellingham kinda isn't a midfielder right now, more of a false 9, but sure. Still I wouldn't say he is as consistent as Gundogan or Rodri. That why the only two I really see as world class right now are these two.

Kroos isn't world class anymore, dude doesn't have the stamina to dominate. There are also players that will become World Class, but for that you have to show your worth on the biggest stage. I wouldn't say Pedri or Musiala are world class yet, but they are on the right path.

It's just funny how you keep on riffing on Barella. He is our best midfielder even if he isn't world class. He is one of our most important pieces for sure.
