its an interesting point - if we dont sign like 35mil of player later in this window then it seems very unlikely we were gonna sign tonali in the first place.

Naaah. It's too sensible and innocent (for him, and us) theory. It would also not fit this "Zhang is a doormat now and bent over for Conte" narrative and we know it's true because corriere said so.

The real reason is because he's a moron and jube spy.

Sunning: Sell first, buy later.

FIF: Fuck Conte.

And the Messi stories. Don't forget the "we'll sign Messi" horseshit. Tough pill to swallow I guess, that we won't get him, after shitload of empty boasting that we will.

It's easier to hate Conte than admit that management won't spend big with or without Conte here this summer.

Hopefully the penny is starting to drop that this isn't some big conte conspiracy but we actually have no money because we have 75-90m of absolute scrap on our books we can't sell.

Conte is collecting more scrap that will be difficult to offload come 2021/22.

May as well take our 'scrap' to those 'Pawnstar' dickheads in Las Vegas...

"Vidal ? Kolorov ?.. Best I can do is 50 bucks"

But they've cost us over €10m ?!

Kolarov is coming on a one year contract + option for a second. Vidal will be 2 years probably, with option for third.

The big thing, tbh, is not having big amortisation like we do on JM and Nainggolan - the reason we cant sell those guys is because we dont awnt to take minusvalenzas on them (same with Gabigol for example, and Dalbert)

Do some people here still think Conte passed up on Tonali? Its now become obvious what Conte was so pissed about - that Suning were backing out of Tonali and perhaps other transfer targets. Cellino pretty much confirmed this too:

“Inter got it all wrong in the way they went about this,” Cellino told Il Messaggero newspaper. “Beppe Marotta wanted him and Antonio Conte adores the player. Other clubs who made an approach were rebuffed because the Nerazzurri were already there."

I will give Suning the benefit of doubt here - COVID-19 has wrecked many investment plans this year. So its kinda understandable of Suning changed their mind about investing a big amount this summer. But it is very annoying nevertheless. Just like that #Interiscoming that never came. This is the 2nd time Sunig are backing out at the last minute after promising big investment. I hope this does not wreck this project.

Cellino also said Barca offered 65m for Tonali which was immediately dismissed by Spanish media. Cellino has been attacking Suning for days probably because he was forced to accept Milan low offer. If you choose to believe Cellino, be my guest.

exactly that. I think COVID fucked Inter. I think Milan have gone all in on this transfer window, with a lot of investment from the board, basically gambling they'll make CL or go bust trying to.

As I said in the financial thread - Inter were obviously out at least 30m from gate receipts, etc, on the end of season against what we should have made. We're one of the few big clubs in Italy to not cut player salary, either.

Years of debt (signing players and loaning them out) is really hurting us. Just across 4 midfielders we dont want theres nearly 50mil a year of costs.

We need them to bridge this year for us, so we can get better Pirelli revenues, and offload those shit players.

Whats the risk/reward situation for Milan’s CL all in?

Couldnt we go all in for the Scudetto this season a la Milan style?

Well, for one you need capital investment frmo outside - Mikan are going big, but they're kind of hedging with loan + option not obligations. The risk is FFP non-compliance and getting barred from Europe for a while

It lookjs like Suning might have some problem getting cash into Inter atm anyway, and going for the Scudetto is a lott more expensive than going for top 4 realistically - Milan are probably a small number of key signings to get to top 4, we're probably 100mil of investment ?

I don't see an all in strategy from Milan this summer. All in was Milan of Fassone and Mirabelli, not this one. Their biggest investment is 10m loan fee for Tonali. Diaz is a dry loan and Bakayoko will join on a 5m loan with option to buy for 30m. From all these only Tonali has realistic chances of staying. They're basically building a team for one season in the hope of reaching CL.

All in* for a club with little cash :D

but, yeah, they're going broke on making CL basically. If they dont make CL then they will probably have to pass up Tonali, let go of Donnarumma, etc

Bluenine had some very good points here. If we skipped Tonali then bought someone with similar value e.g. Ndombele, we could safely say this is Conte's wish. But Vidal, the two amounts are not the same, in terms of total investment.

The point is, we don't know what was happening during that meeting. Conte wanted both Tonali and Vidal for Scudo, but Zhang limited to only one? Or Zhang forced Conte to choose either Tonali and Scudetto or Vidal but lesser aim (2nd place)? Conte was pissed off and outbursted in front of the camera coz Zhang requested Scudo but didn't want to spend? etc. I mean, the outcome of the meeting was surprising for me, did not sound as the "usual Conte" I know. He hates losing. He was always hungry for success. But suddenly he settled down to 2nd place?!? Conte can't spend his own money for players, obviously.

The more you look how the market is going on afterwards, the more sense it makes. Kolarov...1.5m, Darmian...2m + Vidal 0m. And that's it. We don't want to spend. Conte is the coach, should be the last person to not want that. I won't go to binary mode and say this season is a Conte failure ALONE coz there are many things behind the curtain...

back on AC briefly - donnarumma's contract expires at the end of this year and they\re asking serious money to extend (10m/season) - which smashes their entire wage structure. It could get dicey for Milan/they might need some serious plusvalenza at the end of the season to keep him on

I don't see how Milan will get in top 4 this season. If we don't chocked big time, Inter, Jube and Napoli look like teams with most chances for top three. Milan will have to fight with Atalanta, Lazio and Roma for the last spot. It seems very unlikely to make it.

tbh their post lock down form puts them top 4 easily. I thought they were the best for pointst per match aftter lockdown? Either way, there's definitely a chance of them landing top 4. I dont think its anywhere near as high as Milan fans would think, but sitll

Last year Milan has nothing to play bar Serie A, Europa League will hit them soon enough. Their shitty squad depth will kill them, at the same time Pioli ends his honeymoon period.
