I wonder did Spalletti talk to Radja before asking the board to sign him? I mean when Mou wanted Sneijder he at least built some communication with him by texting. Wesley didn't want to join us, but Mou talked to him and convinced him that Inter is the right choice for his further career.

Squad Depth
I'm sorry...have you seen Milans squad?

  1. We have one of the top 10 keepers in the world.
  2. We arguably have one of the best CB duos in the league - with one of the best backups on the bench - all NT starters.
  3. We have a LB who has won almost all there is to win and played many minutes with the leagues top club.
  4. We have 2 world cup finalists.
  5. We have a striker who hits almost 30 goals a season regurlaly.
  6. We also bought, on the request of the coach, one of the worlds best CM of the last 5 years.

We should be closer to Napoli and Juve.
We should be further away from 4th.
No doubts here.

There were many dropped points that simply should not have happened.
We had some injuries, but we have more depth than others.

Don't confuse ability and form. Spaletti has to control this dressing room. He needs to motivate them. He needs to bring out the BEST in them. Teams do well agaisnt us because they want it more and they're hungrier. Something a coach needs to drive.

If he's working to change that, and not succeeding, then I'm sorry, then you're not the right coach, at this moment.

So if Spalletti were 2-3 points closer to Juve/Napoli at this monent, then Spalletti would be secure. I agree with your list, and I do think Spalletti is hearing it for Radja, but damn, I can't see another coach who can get more out of these players at the moment. Motivation is not going to get Politano to hit his target, Joao Mario to complete a decisive pass, Vecino to play his position or for Valero to have more than 30 minutes in him.

I've maintained from the start that Spalletti is not great, but there is a lot of dead weight in the squad that simply lacks the talent to provide reliable depth. I appreciate your post btw because it's not the 6 paragraph, You're-an-idiot-if-you-dont-hate-spalletti noise thats been going around. Most importantly, I trust the current decision makers of the club to fix things going forward.

Did he say anything after the Torino match? Can't find any post-match comments from him.

I don't care enough for the man to listen to what he has to say anymore.

Luciano Spalletti wants Inter to “give everything” against Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-final, but insists Ivan Perisic’s Arsenal “temptation” is normal – and will pass.

The quarter-final kicks off at San Siro on Thursday at 20.00 GMT, with the winners going on to face Milan.

“It’s a one-off knockout match, but we shouldn’t think about it any differently to a Serie A tie, because Inter must go out there and give everything in every situation,” said the Coach in his Press conference just days after a defeat to Torino.

“This is an important and difficult game, a competition with passage directly into the semi-final. We are aware of what is at stake, but also realise we are Inter. If we play like Inter, we’ll have a good chance of going through.”

Cedric Soares is already in the squad after his arrival on loan with option to buy from Southampton, replacing injured Sime Vrsaljko.

“It’s unlikely he’ll start tomorrow, because he has only just met his new teammates, but he has already shown he can play in a four-man defence or three-and-a-half defenders. He has the kind of pace that makes it difficult to take him on and very good feet when crossing.”

The speculation over transfers, with Perisic requesting a move to Arsenal and Matias Vecino also reportedly pushing for the exit, dominated the last week for Inter.

“I am in contact with the players every day, so I know more than anyone how they are feeling,” noted Spalletti.

“The situation with some players was blown out of proportion. There is no truth in the idea Vecino wants to leave and he never told me that he did.

“As for Perisic, he had the honesty and strength to say something that to him seemed right at that moment. He was probably drawn into temptation by a big offer and that made him think carefully, but that can happen.

“Having said that, today his mood was already very different to yesterday.”

Director Piero Ausilio said Inter would welcome Perisic back into the fold and ‘recover’ the player, so the Croatia international is named in the squad taking on Lazio.

“He is in the squad. Whether or not he starts, you’ll see when we release the line-ups. Everyone trained well today, so there are many difficult decisions for me.

“Joao Miranda had offers from other clubs, but he never asked me to leave. Antonio Candreva never said anything to me about wanting to leave, so that’s a bolt from the blue.

“Clearly there are some players who were important last season and haven’t played as much this term, so they might not be very happy, but they are still always prepared to give their contribution.

“The only one who asked to go was Perisic and at his age, with what was proposed to him, it can happen to be tempted. We’ll let him get over it for the next two nights and then he’ll be back to normal.”

So even Spalletti knows that Asamoah only counts as half a defender :troll:

Listen to what José says here from about 4:15 to 6:29. I think this is very timely in regards to Inter and the situation the club has found itself in over the last 8 years. It’s deeper than coaches and players.

I’ll try and see if I can find it again. Basically he was saying that in modern football there needs to be a structure in place around the manager. It is better for the manager that way and for the players. The manager can not be the disciplinarian, coach, and essentially run things.

Usually I'm against firing a coach midseason and until yesterday I firmly believed that we had to keep Spalletti at least until the end of season.

But now I find myself leaning towards the Spalletti haters. What the fuck is wrong with this team?! We've completely lost it! I don't know how are we going to get out of this if we keep Spalletti!

I'd give him max. one more game and if the shit show continues then he has to go. We need to act fast before the season is lost specially since there are good options available to take the job like Conte and Mourinho.

Anybody knows what's the situation between Conte and Chelsea? Can we get him now and not wait till the end of the season?

I think we have the players for Conte's 3-5-2. Lautaro and Icardi up front and behind them Perisic, Nainggolan, Brozovic, Gagliardini (or whoever) and Politano.

My bet is they have already offered Conte a contract to take over immediately if need be.

But he doesn't have the low self-esteem the Spalletti has or the fear of just about any team.

We shouldn't even consider bringing Conte now. We don't have the squad to play with a back 3. Spalletti needs to finish the season at Inter. Then they can bring Conte or someone else and let him build his squad. Firing the coach now will only make things worse.

Why do we play like we're allergic to scoring?
