People who are calling for Spalletti to be sacked, they will be calling for Simeone/Conte/Allegri/etc to be sacked after 6 months too. Maybe the fault lies with Moratti, his trigger happy style may have created this army of impatient, almost fickle "Armchair Morattis" who want the coach sacked at the first sign of trouble.

Spalletti is doing well with the hand he has been dealt. Its ok to criticise him for the mistakes we think he is making, lets face it we have done that to every coach including Mourinho. But Spalletti is also our best bet at the mo to take this club to the next level. We don't have the 200-300m budget for Spalletti to improve the squad in one go, so this rebuilding will be gradual which takes time and patience. We are having our best season since 2011, that is progress. If we miss out on the CL this season, I am sure we will qualify next season.

There is no reason for Spalletti to leave, but if we fail to get a top 4 spot it will be collectively(management, coaching team, players) a bad season.
And it's not just Moratti effect, changing the coach is always the easiest decision, though very often the wrong one.

I think I've said it before but I'll say it again.

Anyone who wants Spalletti sacked deserves Mazzarri.

Here we go again...

Inter: Conte or Simeone to replace Spalletti if he misses out on Champions League qualification?

"If you do not go to the Champions League it's a failure" Luciano Spalletti said following the defeat to Juve about the takeaway from the season should he not finish in the top four.

It's early, of course, to make predictions, because the Nerazzurri and Roma still have three games to play and Lazio four, the third contender for the two places that remain up for grabs

The failure to qualify for the Champions could wreck the relationship between the Nerazzurri and the Tuscan coach, who is under contract until 30 June 2019. While the work done so far by the former coach of Roma is evaluated in very positive terms by Inter, missing out on the Champions League would be a massive blow to the club.

Replacement: Possible replacements are ones that the Nerazzurri chased previously: Diego Simeone and Antonio Conte. Spalletti has three matchdays remaining to go after a 3rd or 4th place finish and insure his job is safe.

No reason to replace Spalletti but I think it's very possible he leaves unless support and spending is granted because he was severely let down by the management in transfer market this season.

Didn't he leave Roma because he wanted to win trophies elsewhere? Obviously there was more than just that to his exit, but if he really has that kind of ambition, he'll probably leave in the summer, specially if no relevant reinforcements come, again.

Sacking him would not be wise in my opinion, as I still consider him a good coach, despite his stubborness and ill-conceived subs. However, at this point, a sack might interest both parties. Suning gets to scapegoat someone for this season's failure, and Spalletti gets to look for a job in a club with less chaos, better planning and more funds.

Lets talk about this after the last round. Everything further depends on our final spot.

so you've gone from the extremely unlikely manager in Simeone to the even more unlikely player in SMS?

there's no fucking chance SMS comes to Inter.

Even if we don't get a CL spot I doubt the management will fire him nor will he resign. It's obvious he's done a good job so far and I'm sure the management realise that. The wise thing would be to keep him and build on whatever he's done so far.

Yes, he has done some questionable moves but so does every single coach in the world. At the end of the day we are at a better place than we were last year and that's what matters.

Many of our last few coaches had good spells after which they started to decline and never recovered. Spalletti is the only one who did manage to recover.

Don't forget that this year we have a really thin squad. Almost all our bench players are useless. This is not his fault but the fault of the people in charge of our transfers.

Exactly. I've been in favour of sacking coaches who failed to recover from their declines. Spalletti is the first who has actually recovered us.

For the fight to go 2-1 up vs Jive with 10 men alone he deserves to stay. Last season our guys would have given up like they did after the derby

2009-10: 38 matches, 24 wins 10 draws 4 losses, 82 points. 75 goals scored 34 goals conceded. Rank 1st.
2008-09: 38 matches, 25 wins 9 draws 4 losses, 84 points. 70 goals scored 32 goals conceded. Rank 1st.
2007-08: 38 matches, 25 wins 10 draws 3 losses, 85 points. 69 goals scored 26 goals conceded. Rank 1st.
2006-07: 38 matches, 30 wins 7 draws 1 loss, 97 points. 80 goals scored 34 goals conceded. Rank 1st.
2005-06: 38 matches, 23 wins 7 draws 8 losses, 76 points. 68 goals scored 30 goals conceded. Rank 1st.
2004-05: 38 matches, 18 wins 18 draws 2 losses, 72 points. 65 goals scored 37 goals conceded. Rank 3rd.

2017-18: 35 matches, 18 wins 12 draws 5 losses, 66 points. 58 goals scored 26 goals conceded. Rank 5th.

I compared the achievement of Spalletti this season with the last 13 seasons.
1. Look at the number of goals we used to concede since post-treble season. Even if we conceded 10 more goals in the next 3 games, we still have better achievement in the defence. We can argue that Skriniar has added much strength to it but is Skriniar-Miranda a better partnership than Lucio-Samuel? Maicon vs Cancelo? DDA vs Chivu?

Imo, like it or not, so far we have an evident that Spalletti has somehow managed to fix our defence.

2. The attacking force isn't good enough. Last season we had Icardi, Perisic, Candreva and Eder as our top 4 goalscorers. This season we barely have Icardi and Perisic to depend on. Could this be a compensation from making a better defence?

3. In the last 7 seasons, we have lost more than 10 matches except in 13-14 season under Grand Master Mazzarri. Spalletti has cut it down to half until now.

4. Spalletti has got 12 draws, 5 of them were against top 5 clubs in the league (2x Napoli, Juventus, Roma, Lazio). Followed by 4 of them against top 10 clubs (Fiorentina - last minute goal, Atalanta, AC Milan, Torino). The other 3 were Bologna, Crotone, SPAL (another last minute goal). Looking back at this, it is not a bad achievement actually.

5. Out of 5 losses, only 1 of them was against the top club which was the last minute turn over by Juventus, the other 4 were Sassuolo Udinese Genoa Torino. This shows how we are now able to play against better clubs, we do not simply get butchered. Two seasons ago, under Roberto Mancini, we lost 11 matches, 2x vs Sassuolo Fiorentina and Lazio, 1x vs Juventus Milan Napoli Torino Genoa.

6. If somehow Spalletti managed to gain 3 more wins and end the season with 75 points, bare in mind that 3 years ago it would be runner up. 5 years ago it would be 3rd place. This is just showing that Serie A is getting more competitive.

7. Obviously Spalletti is not the long term solution but I think the job done has been quite a significant improvement. Something we have not witnessed for many years. This season feels like 2004-05.

The question is whether we can build upon it.

Ancelotti has stated multiple times that he wouldn't coach anywhere.

In fact, I remember so many interviews mentioning that, it was starting to sound like Lavezzi rumours linking him to Inter.
