Let's not forget what happened in Euro 2012 final. Both italy and spain were possession based teams, and spain overran italy, even though italy insisted on trying to keep possession.

Possession is not necessary to win games, its what you do with it that counts, and at least from what Ive seen, we never do anything with it as we dont have the right personnel to retain possession long enough and then break down a packed defense.

The thing is, their midfield is world class. They can score, create, assist. Its hard to take the ball from them. But thats the attacking sense. In the defending, all 5 are going deep, they are pressing like crazy. Knowing our midfielders, and how they work ubder pressure, i am sure we WILL make mistakes. If there is only 2 in the middle (3-4-3), we are going to get raped. We wont be able to take the ball from them to open counter and the 3 upfront will be reven more isolated.

And i am certain that two of milito, palacio and cassano can cause problems for bonucci, barzagli and chiellini.

The only way other than 3-5-2 is 3-4-1-2, with Ricky, since he is decent at defendibg and his workrate is pretty high.
