I'm amazed how people have so strong opinions about things they have no idea about.

On one hand I have some bundesliga/bayern fans telling me that Sommer is quite good with his feet, that's why Bayern chose him to cover for Neuer. His mistakes were blown out of proportion.

On the other hand, I have some members here telling me that Sommer is a leg amputee.

I don't know who's right and who's wrong but at least one group is strongly and confidently incorrect  I'm more inclined to believe the self proclaimed bundesliga fans though, as Inzaghi himself stated very clearly that we're looking for GKs with ball playing ability.
Probably I didn't watch enough, but all the games I watch he had some fucked up when the opponent pressed, not just on him but on the team and him, and he gives off the vibe "oh poor dude, the coach is forcing him to try hard to play with his feet, not natural like Onana, even the video shared below most of the cases are just no pressure clearance/long passes and those are highlights, like at least not to a point where I would call good with his feet, not horrible,

The ball playing deficiency is exaggerated but it's true that if you are team that focuses its buildup on playing the ball out of the back, there are definitely better GKs on the ball. However, he's hardly an amputee or fumbling idiot. Even under Yakin with NT, he has to play it from the back more than he has done in the past so a competitor like him will no doubt grow into it

I think mentality in GKs is huge and he's got a great one but absolutely his biggest 'weakness' would be better on the ball. As a shotstopper, on his day few can match his level IMHO

Why not ask for Man Us backup goalie Dean whatever his name is on loan. They pay half his wages.

As part of the Onana deal :)

Then just wait for Tublin next season to be free agent

Does Sommer not have a 6mil release clause? Am I missing something? How could we potentially pay more than that or need Bayern's approval for the move?

Sounds like Bayern are reluctant to let him go due to their keeper situation. Next!

I think the mentality is a good shout when it comes to the goalkeepers. Onana was a character and a positive person, I think Sommer is definitely good mentality player as well.

Definitely not sad if he joins Inter.

Yea but that's not a release clause. Lol I just it's a weird way of naming it.

Bayern have a particular way of conducting transfer business, especially with those they aren’t anxious to sell

I only remember Bayern being anxious to sell two times, Kroos and Lewandowski. It helps when you don't need player sales to stay profitable. Everything becomes just a sporting decision.

Owen Hargreaves saga is a great barometer to use when dealing with the Bavarians. They considered him one of their own and had no reason to hold out for arbitrary valuation when he was already coming off injuries & being surplus to squad/sporting needs. Bayern publicly and privately humiliated the player for openly lobbying for an exit to United

I’ve never seen a holdout get his way since and they play nothing out in public - again why I suspect Kimmich’s interest with Barca is real but he will never acknowledge it publicly

A bit stasi for my taste but fair play to them, they are steadfast in this philosophy - its not the Qatari gulag but a prison by their rules as well

It’s also to say that Yann is of the character that will respect that philosophy even if he doesn’t like it, no leverage can be expected on player side
