Portugal and Russia still have open windows apparently. He's back at Rubin for now, but he doesn't want to stay.

According to FcIN/GdS Rubin has sent a letter to Inter alleging his value plummeted when we terminated his contract. To which Inter will apparently say that they accepted a loan offer from Swansea but that Rubin was the one to block the move, so to forget suing Inter. All this (and a loan fee) for 749 minutes played for Inter.

It is sad we couldn't make anything out of this deal. He has the potential to be a great player but I don't know if it is the lack of motivation from his side or lack of opportunities from us that made this situation. Probably both. Anyway I wish him good luck wherever he goes. I'm sure I will be looking back in a few years thinking - damn why didn't we use him a bit more.

24 March 2014 - Not far off the mark:

Overrated Frenchman. A drawn out transfer saga for a whole lot of nothing. There is a reason he was playing Russia and it was not because he wanted a new challenge. I think it had something to do with a last chance saloon and the fact that he is no longer up to the task. He has not shown anything different at Inter. Mazzarri may have no idea as to how to coach a team but he was supposedly opposed to this transfer. Pack him back to Russia and lets save any further blushes.

He's had some dumb games as well. What about players like Salah, Quadrado, Gervinho, Jovetic, who have looked much better in Italy? It's not simple.

Perhaps it's easier for defensive minded players to do well in England, where the defensive standard is arguably lower. Just a theory.
