Watford fans on reddit were pretty excited when they heard that Mazzarri is taking over. I almost feel sorry for the poor bastards.

So far in 4 preseason matches with Watford, he has 2 wins and 2 draws. 6 goals for 2 against.

So far in 6 preseason matches including today's ass kicking to Bayern (Still going), we have 1 win, 2 draws, 3 losses. 5 goals for and 7 goals against (Not yet counting the ass kicking we are getting handed to us by Bayern). This is in no means saying Mazzarri is a better manager, but so far his system is working for Watford, and we are still shit under Mancini. Em fucking barrassing.

Beating complete garbage doesn't mean its working. And the insanity i refer to is how can you compare non-competitive matches as a basis of how one teams system is working and the others isnt? lol and half of our team is still in italy, the better half might i add. (not like that's an excuse for our pre-season so far)

We couldn't beat complete garbage is the point. Keep telling yourself that maybe with our "Better players" things might be better. We are fielding starters against teams lesser players. We are garbage, Mancini is garbage, and we are just embarrassing ourselves more and more with each passing game. You are insane for thinking things will get better. Reality is we are shit mate!

notice how i said it isnt an excuse... plus, Milan won everything last season in pre-season, how did that stand them in the season? Sure we could be doing a lot better, but dont over react too much and try make comparisions where there are none ala Mazzarri and Watford. chill buddy, obviously things will get better when we start to play competitively with the rest of our team and candreva :)

No results in preseason mean nothing, preparation on the new season is vital in the preseason, the season is planned in preseason.
Also we play like total crap but I didn't expect anything else with Palacio,Melo,Nagatomo,Frog and similar turds against PSG,Bayern although they were not in full power. This Intercontinental tours are a waste of time, playing the fringe players while the stars are playing in Brunico with the primavera, well at least we will get 3mil for embarrassing ourselves completely

I don't know who we will sign still but I'm not practically excited about the new season as Banega will have a hard time playing with creative players like Melo and Medel and a kid who can't pass to save his life Kondo...Brozo is ok
The mf needs reinforcements yesterday, also we need a reliable CB back up and with Candreva coming we don't need another forward unless we sell Icardi or Jojo or Eder

I don't think you should call obtuse someone just because they have a different opinion. That being said, I think that at least Mancini tries to get important players, while the players of choice of mazzarri are quite often (not always, but more often than not) the quintessence of mediocrity. In addition to this, mazzarri is the most frustrating person in football and possibly in the whole world, he is just unbearable, his personality is something you could only (barely) tolerate if he were one of the most successful coaches.

This portion is different from what you might be saying.
If you intend to say that Roberto Mancini goes after high profile, or highly rated transfers, then we could be in agreement to a point. On Walter Mazzarri, his player selection more often are to do with the characteristics of his players instead of the profile, or status of the player. Like if he is presented with the choice of one player who passes defends Intercepts tackles plus dribbles well, but is very low profile like Serie B or Serie C, against one player who shoots well, but loses the ball often, misplaces passes, dribbles superbly, plays more individually, but is very high profile, but would not fit his tactical system. He would likely choose the players who are suitable for the team instead of those who are high profile. Also those who Mazzarri chooses who you think or view to be mediocre might result from several factor. Budget would be one of the, he worked within one very limited budget with Internazionale. This budget does not permit him to attract the high profile footballers who hold the characteristics for his team. If you think Behrami is mediocre or Xhemaili, from the perception that they do not do things very superbly, or like the very highly rated footballers, Then you could look at the price of players who are like them but are not mediocre.

He is not presented with the resources to build his ideal team. One of all round superb wingbacks, midfielders who are defensively very solid whilst being creative or passing well.
He is not presented with the opportunity to construct this team.
Mario Gomez
Maximilian Meyer
Ricardo Rodriguez Sebastian Rode Javi Martinez Toni Kroos David Alaba
Benedikt Höwedes Holger Badstuber Jerome Boateng
Kevin Trapp

Or any team with players who you might not consider to be mediocre who fits the characteristics of his team.

Also his views of players could be contrasted with Josep Guardiola who benched Yaya Toure for the defensive midfielder who fits his archetype, or Sebastian Rode for Xabi, or Mario Götze for Alcantara, Mario Mandzukic for Arjen Robben.
With Mancini it is somewhat different, like Gnoukouri v. Melo or Medel. Gnoukouri is lower profile is somewhat all round, but is not superb in somethings like Melo Or Medel are.
The difference in player selection is more with the style of the coach.
Mancini could likely assemble this team if he were not restricted

Lewandowski
Ronaldo Kroos Müller
Krzchowiak Toure
Marcelo Ramos Boateng Alaba
Handanovic

On this we disagree, if you look at all the top coaches or many of the coaches in the world they are very frustrating in some things. Like Guardiola with his disfavor of certain players, unwillingness to shift his tactics completely to conquer his opposition, or his bad man management, or even the very controlling or perfectionist mentally which he has. Mazzarri uses excuses or scapegoats for when things do not go well, he also takes credit for when his players develop, but some of these excuses are understandable. Like the rain resulting in the team playing poorly from the lack of quick ball movement options, or the more slippery surface, players watching their step so not to fall, or vision or communication issues with the rain present. It is reported by several Players that Guardiola does not speak to them, or tell them directly what their position in the team is when they are not featuring often. He praises them but does not play them, this is very frustrating. It bridges the connections which the coach ought to have with his players, diminishes the unison, or chemistry of the team. Sebastian Rode reported that he did not talk to him, Zlatan, Xherdan Shaqiri, or Mario Götze were subject to this lack of communication from their coach. It is possible that you are finding Walter Mazzarri to be very frustrating since he was the trainer of Internazionale, the team which you follow very closely, thus you were witness to his faults more often or more closely than the different coaches of Football. You could theorize that things which are not frequently presented to you often look more appealing. Also an idea is that if Walter Mazzarri had inherited the FC Bayern of Jupp Heynckes, then he would be Champion of Europe. This is said only since FC Bayern München house the players of his sought characteristics who are not Mediocre. From the statement of Piero Ausilio which stated that a team of Walter Mazzarri would win each game 3 to 0 is not without merit since a Mazzarri team would ideally be filled with well rounded World Class Footballers.

Mazzarri: 'No Watford smoke problem'
By Football Italia staff

Walter Mazzarri gave his first Press conference as Watford Coach and promised focus, but denied reports his smoking upset players.

The former Inter and Napoli tactician held his first Press conference this evening and, despite spending months on English lessons, continues to speak only through an interpreter.

“I want to salute everyone. I am happy, fired up and hungry for this first game. I’m very happy with the way the lads have tried to follow my indications during the last month of training,” said Mazzarri.

Claudio Ranieri won the Premier League title last season at Leicester City and is one of several Italians in the division along with Chelsea’s Antonio Conte and Francesco Guidolin at Swansea City.

“I saw Ranieri yesterday at the FA meeting. I have a good rapport with him, there are other very good Italian Coaches in England too and that is pleasing, but even more than that I am fired up by the idea that the Premier League has some of the best Coaches in the world.

“I know that Watford have a very tough start to the season, but I am curious to see how my lads do against these very big clubs. As a person, I always think positive, I believe in work and what we’ve done in tactical terms. I believe we have the desire to always do more than the opposition, so I think positive, but in the end we’ll accept what happens on the field.

“I am happy with the way the players worked in training. Whenever I went to a new club to work with players who were accustomed to other Coaches, it has taken a while to get the hang of my movements and systems, so I always take that into account.”

Watford have gone through numerous managers under the Pozzo family, who also own Serie A side Udinese.

“Pressure usually galvanizes me and those who know me realise I give my best under pressure. I realise Watford did well last season, but I never look at what happened before my arrival. I know the Pozzo family well, we have a good rapport, so I’m not worried.

“I am a Coach who thinks 24 hours a day about how to get the best out of the players put at my disposal by the club. I’ve got my blinkers on and focus on the players. I follow their progress technically, physically, psychologically, tactically and even in their lives, as I am older and can give advice.”

Mazzarri has already hit the headlines in England for his smoking habit, including reports he shocked players by lighting up in the locker room.

“It’s not true that I smoked in the locker room, so I want to point that out. I will just say that unfortunately nobody is perfect – I do smoke. However, I always showed respect for those around me and when I do smoke, I always make sure there is nobody around who is upset by that.”

There are another three weeks before the transfer window closes, so will Watford make more new signings?

“As I am an experienced Coach, the club wanted me to first evaluate the players who are already at Watford. The club is ready to pick up two or three elements we need, but those opportunities have to represent players better than what we already have to make us more competitive.”

It seems he's stuck on the dreaded intermediate plateau of language learning

Although, based on his last interview in English, he's not even at intermediate level yet.
