He had an interview a short while back he said he doesn't want to talk about Inter just yet, but I bet probably in June just like Mou back in the da.

I actually can't wait for our next game, don't care if it's friendly, I just want to see the difference between Andrea's 3-5-2 and Walter's 3-5-2, If we can play a better football, then I'm glad we take this guy than risky another season with 4-2-3-1 or another 3-5-2 from Strama...
But still, I'm still curious with Strama's 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 with player he requested... shit, anyway, another good luck Walter, am waiting for your Press Con!

His 4-2-3-1 with the primavera team was actually good. It's a shame we never properly saw it because I believe things might have gone differently. I only hope for success for him where ever he goes. I'm more excited to see Walter's 3-5-2 and other variations because I always thought Napoli played well under him.

After Milito's injury we almost exclusively played 3-5-1-1. This was forced on us as even when we had two fit strikers we had one eye on squad rotation and would drop a forward. When Palacio played we looked O.K. When it was Rocchi we were miserable. People forget that for the second half of the season they were practically the only strikers we ever had at our disposal.

IF we played with two recognised forwards and two creative players behind (I thought Alvarez was one of the few players to develop well this season) and a bit of width then we will start to assert ourselves a bit more.

The real point I was making is that the squad is not weak. We will have one competition to focus on. It is strong enough for that and some occasional cup games. What we need is social and tactical cohesiveness. There's no reason to believe Mazzarri won't bring that.

You read my mind. I wrote something similar on other thread. The team is not weak and actually kind of suitable for 3backs. With 2 New faces, a CM and a RWB and only one competition we can perform. Very important, if this Guy who comes with Mazzarri succeed in protecting our players from injuries we can fight for CL. And also we can release many of our contraperformers if Mazzarri want only 18 players.

We're linked to Bigon this is a guy who's been with Mazzarri since his time with Reggina and is currently at Napoli he's kind of the link between Mazzarri and the club, kind of like what Carbone was with Benitez at Inter... That didn't really work out but oh well :p

INTER, TEN MOVES (TO WIN SCUDETTO) OF MAZZARRI

Mission Scudetto. Handanovic and the 3-5-2.
Guarin as top player. Icardi like Cavani.
The field is like a laboratory that is open 24 hours a day to study movements and opponents department by department.
The week without Europe to reach the top.

Milan – Meticulous, outspoken, workaholic and with ideas. Ideas that need to stick with, especially new technical material that he will find on the transfer market. Walter Mazzarri already has in mind what he wants to do with a lot of teachings, hard working, competitive nastiness, repetitions and with a dynamic, potent and pungent style of play.

1. After 14 seasons, Inter will be without any type of European competition. A drama? No, the club just misses a bit of value. Without mid week commitments will bring Inter to play immediately for the top spot. Also, the squad size will be reduced as the coach prefers to have 15-16 men in the team. So the starters plus a few more reinforcements to define roles and hierarchies. It is no secret that Mazzarri’s teams, without Europe, can take off although last year, Napoli maintained high consistency of performance. Oh and four years with Napoli, four European qualifications.

2. “Juventus have won two Scudetti with the 3-5-2.” This is not an attack against Juve but a confirmation of the formation that he really loves. But the key factor in this formation is the fact that on the field, Mazzarri always has the numerical advantage. Let’s say if an opponent uses a trident attack, then a wing player in the 3-5-2 will track back to form a back four. Same goes in the midfield or up front. In short: 3-5-2 is a base formation but the coach pays a lot of attention to the opponent. The offensive department often starts with five men: many variations that can be developed with maxium intensity.

3. Fredy Guarin is a key element in the thought of Mazzarri. The Colombian needs space to show his strength, pace, force and explosive capability. His ideal role is mezzala (side midfielder) and he is the next important move of Walter Mazzarri. The coach has left behind Hamsik and Guarin will be just that to do the dirty work. Considering Il Guaro to be Hamsik is a good motivation for someone like him.

4. Dynamism, attention to details and using the ball in free kick and corner. His collaborators in Vigiani and Frustalupi are very sensitive in developing dead ball situations: who to be neutralized (defensively) and those who can be lethal offensively.

5. Second best defense in the league, that of Napoli last season. And now Mazzarri is coming to a team that allowed 57 goals, just like Siena. The wing players as well as midfielders are fundamental in this sense but his numbers do not lie: even in 2010-2011, his Napoli were the second best defensive team in the league and Reggina was saved because they allowed the least amount of goals in the last seven games. Reducing the number of allowed goals is probably the top priority.

6. Too many times this past season that Inter lost at the San Siro: 7. Walter Mazzarri only lost once with Napoli and in the years prior 4 and 3. The home stadium advantage must return.

7. Handanovic once believed that shots on goal against Inter would not be more than 3 or 4. He said it himself albeit in a joking manner. Walter Mazzarri considers him very important and wants to protect the Slovenian with a solid defense.

8. With a week off, Mazzarri will have even more time to instruct his players: department by department. The coach usually has separate training groups (defense, midfield and attack) to work on movements, recoveries, helping out each other etc… Details, details and details.

9. Cassano and Mazzarri. The relationship of the two at Sampdoria is very well noted. However, FantAntonio had a positive year at Inter and to Mazzarri, players of experience are important and could turn matches around. It remains to make him understand that he will not be a starter but a very important and luxurious alternative: mission possible.

10. With Mazzarri, all his strikers were all in paradise: from Lucarell at Livorno (29 goals) to Amoruso at Reggio Calabria (17), from Rolando Bianchi (18) to Pazzini (Samp, 11 goals from January to June) to Cavani, from 34 goals in three seasons in Palermo to 78 goals in three seasons in Naples. Icardi is an explosive piece of an arsenal that will be further reinforced. Collectively they all must help him and under the care of Mazzarri (and Milito), Icardi will emerge.

This is where Strama's 3-5-2 failed. This is the way 3-5-2 is supposed to be played.

Such a flexible formation. My favorite.

Something is not right. They keep saying Mazzari wants 17-18 players, and then they say all of Zanetti, Cambiasso, Chivu, Samuel, Gargano, Mudingayi, Milito will be staying. And none of these actually belong to the starting lineup.

True. So if he wants a tight squad & none of those players you mentioned are anywhere to be seen, it can only mean that their asses are gonna get sold!

Here's a dude that predicted Mazzarri will be our next coach since 15th of May, 2013:

Agent Pallavicino: ‘Walter Mazzarri will go to Inter’
Carlo Pallavicino, agent of Sirigu and Pandev, has also expressed his thought on the future of Walter Mazzarri.

“I know Mazzarri very well and I now that he is waiting for Inter. Walter intends to leave Napoli for a club that he is “forced” to win. With all due respect to Roma, I do not think he will leave the Champions League to move to the Giallorossi.”

Pallavicino is also very certain when speaking to Sky.

“I appreciate the words of support from Moratti to Andrea Stramaccioni but in the end, he will prevail the desire for Mazzarri. Walter has all it takes to revive the project of Inter and this marriage will happen. In case of it falling through? Then I think Mazzarri will stop for one season as he only wants Inter.”

Mazzarri already won me over :proud: I say give him full confidence (and of course, requested players) and don't judge his pre-season work by friendlies or first 3 matches! He needs to TEACH players certain things, and Napoli play with a nice flow because they already know each other's movements on the pitch by heart. For that kind of cohesion, you need TIME. So be patient, folks!

He doesn't need to say that he is a fan, to want Inter. Stramaccioni actually opened the door to him, Mazzarri took it, why not?

I say that for every new coach - please, please show patience and not judge him a few months in. At least 2 full seasons, that's what we need to promise Mazzarri. It does not matter where we finish in the first season (short of relegation), if he fails to qualify for europe or isn't able to impose a clear playing style. Give him time, he is not a bad coach and given time he will come good. Moratti, please have a long term view for once - now we are in a situation where that is not even an option.

For my part, even though Mazzarri isn't the coach I would have picked, he has my undying support for at least 2 seasons. For all those fickle bitches here who will want the coach sacked at some point next season (even if you don't know that yet), consider this a warning (pulp fiction style) - I shall strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers!

Forza Mazza Inter!
