When you tried to sneak upon the mad man, did you enter from the geols after beating the Darkbeast Pearl ?

My mad man was in the forest area in the dark building's roof i believe... and i was talking about sneaking up on the guy with the gatling gun, that shit never worked for me! he saw me every time before i even got to the top of the latter

Nan, the guy in the Forbidden Woods is the Suspicious beggar.

I'm talking about the mad man with the gaitgling too, if you enter old Yharnam rom the "basic" entrance, he starts shooting at you and even if you manage to make it to the roof where he is, he still attacks you.

You have to unlock a shortcut after beating the Darkbeast Pearl in the Geols to enter Old Yharnam from another entrance, so he don't see you, then make your way to him and he's not gonna attack you.
