Definitely agree that some absolute gems have appeared in the last two console generations.

But most of the games seem like overrated crap to me. They are far less enjoyable and I'm also talking about franchises that I used to like. They all seem to have become worse over time.

Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, GTA has become a movie with some gaming breaks and so on.
The only one that I saw significant improvement with is God of War and Assassin's Creed keeps getting better.
All the sports games have regressed and have become cash grabbing machines for kids to play online over a singles game or a multiplayer console game at home with friends.
Maybe it's my disdain for this online frenzy talking here.

Surely there are great games now, far better than any ever made, either due to their gameplay or more commonly due to advanced tech, but it feels like gaming has been dumbed down. Instead of having longer games now we have the developers using video bs. If you can skip the video you can finish off a game in a day or two. With SNES it's essentially the same. You'd expect a vast improvement but the only better thing we have is the packaging and the wrapping. There's more fun to older games because that's why they were made. The new games are made to attract a different kind of attention.

I mean games like Super Mario, Zelda, Yoshi, the early Pokemon games, Star Fox, Donkey Kong or going to PS Crash Banticoot and a couple of others are just too much fun. With no breaks. You just play. Now there's too much non-playing activity in these games. Ffs I already have Netflix and Amazon Video on the same machine if I wanted to see a movie.

On the other hand, apart from the death of RTS which I loved (and is sort of revived lately), PC gaming seems to have improved.

Out of curiosity, name the top 20 games you played on PS4.

I m just gonna name the top games i played i barely own 25 games and at least 10 out of them are nba2k s fifas and NHL and i m not gonna hail them as great games.

So PS$ games that i consider great:
RDR2
Detroit the human experience
GTA 5
Uncharted 4
GOW
the Outerworlds
Fallout 4 (not as good as new vegas but still)

Games i consider very good;
Wolfenstein 2
South park (love it but probably useless if your not a fan)
Watchdogs
Mafia 2
Assasins creed black flag
Also 2k17 or 16 needs a special mention cause that was nearly perfect.

Again thats just the once i played and own i know there are other great ones that i never bothered to play.

I get where your coming from your one of those nervous gamers or atleast thats how i call them guys who dont give a shit about story and cut scenes no matter how good they are they just wanna play. I really dont mind cut scenes if they are well done and the dialogue is good.
Imho in the games i mentioned except for the nba the cut scenes and the dialogue are usually pretty damn good atleast in the games i call great.
Also i m pretty sure most gta s and other open world games also have a lot more game play in them!! I mean compare vice city to gta 5 and i think vice city is great but in gta 5 there is so much more to do and imho there is no way that there is more gameplay time in a vice city than there is in a gta 5.

Thats not saying that you dont have a point and many games these days feel rushed and are damn buggy when they first come out which is annoying.

Looking back, the number of good games I played on my PS4 is pathetically low compared to the ones on PS3.
My interest in playing faded during the last year of high school, during civil service I barely played at all and since university there are phases where I play a lot, but they are outweighed by phases where I don’t play at all, like right now lol.
It’s not that I am not interested in the games, it’s more of a motivation issue. Gaming for me is not exactly relaxing, it feels like work. What usually happens is that I start a game, play it a couple of times and then I can’t play for the next 2 days for whatever reason. After those 2 days I’m like „nah“ and won’t play anything for the next couple of months.
Happened with the Witcher 3 in the summer. I actually loved it but only played like 10 hours and haven’t touched it ever since, but will probably get back to it in the future.

But anyway the games I can think of from the top of my head that I enjoyed a lot:
GTA 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Doom, Ratchet & Clank, Until Dawn (and the first 10h of the Witcher 3).
I'm sure there are a couple more though.

There were couple of ok-ish games too but I’m not going to bother mentioning them.

The only games I absolutely hated were Knack (from the PS4 bundle when it came out) and Watch Dogs.
After exam I’ll will force myself to get playing again.

To be honest i m kind of surprised they stuck to the initial release schedule. Most of the concerns that get voiced in the article were already mentioned at the announcement of stadia and many said that the release date seems very optimistic.

Anyways i still think the idea behind it is genius console less gaming is probably the future. The question that still remains is when is that future and who will be the first out with a functioning product.
Btw if i m not mistaken one of Xbox or Sony publicly stated that they are also working on a "stadia" of their own. Gonna be interesting to see if google can enter that market or if they moved to early.

They aren't approaching it in the best way possible but they're putting a foot in the door waaay before anyone else can or would risk to. It's pretty nice conceptually speaking and as time passes it'll get there, undoubtedly, so I see nothing wrong with Stadia as a product. Maybe it's just a bit early and they'll be the MySpace, paving the road for some Facebook later on.

Google doesn't have Apple's "buy it because I say so" clout to push random crap and have people buy it.

Apple doesn't release products like Google though, they actually put thought and effort into it. They do always release a full product, just like it was advertised.

Trus me there is a lot of people with a lot of money out there that'd buy anything new just cause they're bored and think buying it will make them look cool. It's Apple or Google, not some basement based company, if they produce a box with pee and shit in it, these people are gona still buy it.

I'd have used Inter management purchase history for midfield before last summer as an example but that would do.

Google is the follower into the market

Apple creates the product like the iPhone and the iPad. Then google goes omg me too please look at me!!!! Also I’ll make way more models including super shitty ones so anyone can afford it. Then people by the one that cost half what the Apple one does and go omg google is such shit!

I used a $300 chrome book and then a $1,200. The more expensive one competes with the MacBook. But they like to try to compare the cheap one as it’s 1/3rd the cost.

But yes Apple totally over priced their products like the $300 HomePod. I got one used for 120 and it’s barely better than my old UB Boom speaker I use to go to the beach.

Did anyone buy them?

The iPod was the MP3 player. Before and after

By the time Microsoft finally gave us a good competitor. Apple was like nice but here is the iPhone!!

The iPad might not be a world beater but it made the tablet market.

I what has google been first to market with? The watches no one uses? Again Apple then came out with a better watch and it outsells all the others by a lot.

It does have the “cool” factor but most products just play catch up or run a buggy operating system.

I was referring to who is the follower. Apple did improve it and make it sellable through initially quality and marketing, now its just the latter.

In form of difficulty, did you think Sekiro was harder than Bloodborne?

EDIT: Now I just assumed you've also played Bloodborne :eek:blivious:

Ed is the difficult games expert, I stream watched him once playing Sekiro for an hour, the amount of patience on this guy, he died 300 times and keeps repeating same level over and over like he's on a mission.

The only 'difficult' games Ive played and actually enjoyed was Bloodborne and Nioh.

Oh please. They haven't done anything like that since 2008. You can bet that if Apple released "Cloud Gaming" there'd be hordes of people joining just because of a logo.
